The 2012 Democratic Presidential Convention is to be held in North Carolina during the week of September 3rd.
With North Carolina's vote against gay marriage and the calls for a boycott of the state from several groups, will the Democrats "pull out" before the big event?
If they do, they'll be liable for the costs of renovation, traffic rerouting, hotel upgrades, liquor and drug inventory buildups, purchases, prostitute hirings, and all the other expenses undertaken in reliance on their contract to hold it in Charlotte. Obama would have to go jetting around raising a lot more money to cover all that.
He would have no problem letting the taxpayers pick up the tab somehow.
I suspect most of them would rather hold the convention in Hell instead of North Carolina about this time. But if they say they want to go to Hell, I suggest we waive the no-show charges and let them go.to Hell.
Where they'll name Dennis Kucinich as the nominee just to troll Obama!
77 minutes.....I'm waiting for someone to chastise this convo!
This is name calling and demonizing. Where are the Hub Police?
You all have to be called on your nasty mouths. OR, NO ONE should be!
you see why I don't take it seriously when they tell me to tone it down?
I will when you do!
Scuze me? I said nothing!! Just listened and saw all of you being quite disrespectful, and wondering why no one thinks to call you out?
What are you talking about?
Who are you talking to, LMC?
After decades of being a Red State North Carolina's current demographics have it poised to tip over into Blue State territory. The Gay Marriage vote was a set-back but that's all it was. No way will they pull out.
Is North Carolina a one-issue state?
Will they refuse the $$$ associated with the DNC convention simply because they oppose gay marriage?
Methinks...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................NOT!
That's upside down. The question is if the DNC will pull out, not if NC will boot it out.
My answer is no. Charlotte, Mecklenberg County and the State of North Carolina have spent a lot preparing for the big blowout. The DNC would be sued for damages by breach of contract.
So I guess there's no truth to the rumor the DNC is moving over to Mississippi.
It's all about the Electoral College, available facilities, and ease of transportation, in that order. The first of those is the determinant. That's why the convention is to be in Charlotte. BO's handlers have been calling North Carolina's Electoral votes critical for two years now. They're looking for another avenue to a majority since they've realized his chances of carrying the State this year are slim to none, but they've not yet found it, and in any event it's too late to pull out.

North Carolina Gov. Bev Perdue talks about suspending elections. Is she serious?Would members of Congress be more productive and more bipartisan if they weren't concerned about re-election every two years? It's a thought that's crossed the minds of many voters as well as House members, many of whom...
