Just Sharing A Happy Moment

There's so much "junk" that goes in life, in the news, and even just in the forums here....      I just thought I'd just do a happy thread about a happy occasion.  Of course, being a proud mom factors into my wanting to share this too; but that aside, since it's Friday night and the forums haven't really had the kind of Friday-night fun threads in a long time; this seemed like a good one to start.  So, if you've got some happy/special moments to share here, maybe that would be a nice Friday-night-kind-of-thing to do.     smile  (It doesn't have to be wedding moments.  Could be anything special/meaningful/happy for you.)  (Every so often someone tries to start a "happy thread" on here, and somehow they always seem to end up pictures of things like cats from the Internet - so no cats or other animals please.   smile  I'm just thinking a thread full of Hubbers' special or nice moments might eventually (if it "flies") make a pleasant contribution on the forums here.   Just cute, special or funny pictures of people in your life might be nice too.

....but sometimes even the most well behaved of flower girls are caught in a moment of apparent wild behavior - even apparent flying...http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h468/lhw3/AugEv%20Pub%20Photos/FGFlying.jpg

So anyway...    I hope others post some nice stuff here - cute, meaningful, funny, whatever - but yours, rather than something that's someone else's from the Internet.

Thanks.  I had second thoughts because I know it's corny, but I wouldn't mind seeing some different types of threads being started on here (corny or otherwise).  There seems to be a lot of remarks being made about how "slow" the forums are.  So there that, and then there's The News (etc.).  (I think we could also could use a return of the party threads that used to get started on Friday nights.   smile  )

Wish I knew how to load an image here in the forums!  wink

lorlie6, this may be dumb of me.. but the only way I know is to load them into a Photobucket account and then get the "image code" by clicking on it (and it copies the code automatically).  If you don't know this already, Photobucket lets you set different albums on "public", "private", etc.; so you can load whatever you'd want to post on a forum into an album you set on "public".

      Sorry, couldn't help myself. big_smile

I think they just recently added a photo doohickey button at the lower right of the forum post/reply box, next to the formatting button. smile

If importing, just right click the pic you want and select "get url". Then ctrl-v it into the import box.

wordscribe43, great contribution.  Kids do tend to all look happy at a party.  Just wondering...  What's the white section of the magic wands?  They're a great idea (although I'd be partial to the red ones).

White candy melts... you just melt them in the microwave for about a minute and dip the licorice in.  Yummy!

I'm going to pass that idea on to my niece who has kids of Harry Potter age and one of fairy-princess age).  That may be a-whole-nother good thread:    Nifty treats to make for kids birthday parties.  (Or a Hub - but I'm thinking the forums could use some different stuff. )

I was in Oban day before yesterday, and this was the view from my uncle's kitchen window -

Nothing as exciting or weddings or parties, just a wonderful sea view! I'd never get fed up washing dishes in there..

I really liked Oban, when I visited it a few years back.

Had a really good meal one night. Actually, that was my favourite thing about the week's tour of Scotland we did: the food was superb wherever we went.

Oban and further north and west have had a great summer this year - it has been a wash-out where I live - I wish I had visited more often.

Here's some more pics of Oban -

What striking photos.  Great contribution to the thread.   I'm guessing you may turn the story that goes with one photo into a Hub.

        I doubt it. It's well-documented already.

Basically one rich guy built it, but died before it was finished. He left a legacy in his Will to get it completed, but those wishes were not carried out because his sister contested the Will (and won).

        http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18960478

It would make an interesting project, but like the rest of my hubs, wouldn't get views because hardly anyone searches for it.

I don't have any great travel pictures (because I've pretty much not gone anywhere very interesting in the last couple of decades or more) HOWEVER, when getting together some childhood pictures for my daughter's wedding I found the following (and now happen to have them handy).  The little boys (my sons) in the picture would grow up to be in their sister's wedding.  (The reason I have handy more pictures of their sister than of them is that it was a batch we were digging up for wedding purposes.)  (My grown sons wouldn't appreciate having their photo posted here.)  Other pics:  The recent (very recent) bride in her younger days (dance, T-ball, cousin's HS grad party, cousin's wedding, and..... hmm....  just being a baldy baby with a concerned expression.   (If you think I'm feeling sentimental today, I'm not.  That was yesterday.  Today is for thinking about who all three of these people are now, as grown-ups, and for discovering that's it every bit as good today as it was when they were the little folks in these pictures that you see.  The thing is...  some special moments come when we're not all dressed up for a wedding and, instead, when we're just at our computer, trying to think up things to post on a thread aimed at focusing on special moments.

Oh... never mind what I said about "sentimental".  We had both families and all the friends in one hotel for a couple of days.  It made the whole wedding-moments thing that much nicer and "sentimental"-producing.   There was one heck of a lot of storm-surviving among all those people on the first through fourth floors of the hotel.      http://i1111.photobucket.com/albums/h468/lhw3/AugEv%20Pub%20Photos/SmallestFireplace.jpg

In any case, other people, post your stuff/people that are special to you.  I'm not going to post more stuff here for awhile.  I'm hoping this thread may keep going without me from here on  I just figured I'd post what I have on my mind today - maybe to give some people some starter ideas.

Thanks.  I hadn't seen them for awhile, until my daughter and her (now) husband wanted to dig up childhood photos.  It's now like they're new to me again (sort of).   smile   However, as I've been wasting time on here (and a few places) for hours now, I keep going back to those photos you posted.  They're just really relaxing - even just looking at them.
