In one, I wrote about how to get Jesse Ventura on the 2016 presidential ballot in Tennessee. In it I cited part of Tennessee's law. It was removed because I cited part of the law.
The one I wrote today was marked duplicate content as well, and that is about a hotel chain's new partnership with Homeland Security. In part of it I quote Napolitano from her press release and the hotel's owner. It's pretty much a straight news piece.
If you're going to quote something that's fine, but you must have considerably more text of your own that the quote or it will be considered duplicate.
No firm figures are available, but I would expect a hub with no more than 25% of the text as quotations to pass muster.
Thanks, I'm going to move the DHS article to another site that will accept. However, the Ventura piece should be fine and I don't understand why it's being rejected.
So I deleted the DHS article from HubPages, posted it to Open Salon. About an hour later it is #4 in Google's search results.
I ended up deleting the Ventura one and posting it to Open Salon also. Before it was removed for duplicate content it had a lot of likes and tweets, but I don't want to have to wait up to 72 hours to have it republished. This is what I was waiting on: http://open.salon.com/blog/david_garret … t_in_tenne
I use lots of quotes with no problem. I try to keep all quoted text below 10% of the hub. If this is the problem, simply add more of your own words.
That was probably the problem with the DHS one. I wanted to write a news story rather than opinion piece though so I just moved it to another site and deleted it from hubpages. However, the Ventura piece should be fine and I don't understand why they haven't published it. It's been 17 hours now since it was resubmitted.
I just saw your hub on Jesse Ventura here, it is published:

That's an old one. The new one is about how he can get on the Tennessee ballot.
It's titled, "How to Get Jesse Ventura on the Presidential Ballot in Tennessee"

Why does my hub keep saying it is a duplicate? It is my work. I even made many changes many times.I deleted it, rewrote it and tried to publish it again, after having made many changes. Still it says duplicate. It should not say this. It is my work.

Can someone tell me how to post song lyrics without it being a duplicate violation?

Given all the time spend world wide worrying about Panda and Google's poor quality and duplicate content comments, what the hell does this post from GOOGLE themselves mean. Talk about contradictory!http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot. … apers.html

I would like to make a suggestion to the TEAM here on HUB Pages. I feel that it would be a positive improvement here on the HUB, if all of the activity that is perpetuated by Hubbers, were made known. For instance... apparently - anyone can go around giving thumbs UP or DOWN to a fellow...

I have been doing a series on Astrology and going through one sign at a time. I was careful not to duplicate language though certain things needed repeating. I eliminate two important paragraphs..format is the same but the information totally different. I have done several that have...

I was just checking my stats when I noticed that a hub I published on 1-7-07 has been flagged and incurring a HP penalty for duplicate content. It's my highest earning hub and HP giving me a penalty-and then asking me to wait 72 hours for a review on something I published a year ago is...
