I have Google Analytics tracking my hubpages (used www.hubpages.com/profile/myprofile as the URL).

All of my hubs are about food with the exception of one on dachshunds and one on lowering your grocery bill.

Analytics is reporting organic traffic to my hubpages, but get the keywords that are driving the traffic - "surviving 1930's", "adwords campaign management", "unique portland", "dark painters", "free instant traffic to your blog", "eve fraser's facial exercises" -- get the picture? There were a few that are relevant - "butter lobster roll french fries", "how to make hot lobster roll" and "warm lobster roll recipe".

Why would those other keywords be driving traffic to a food blog???

I don't know the answer to your question, but I'd like to know how to hook Analytics to my hub pages. Every time I look into it I get confused because I read that I have to add HTML to my pages and obviously I can't put that code in my hub page. What's the trick?

Have you checked the faq ( http://hubpages.com/faq/#googleanalytics )?

All you need to do is enter your UA code that google gives you to your affilites settings under My Account.

The UA Code is in the format of UA-XXXXX-X, where X is a number.

The UA Code is listed both in the snippet of html code they give you, as well as on the overview page of your Google Analytics Account.

Have you set up an Analytics account? If you do, in Analytics find the "Code Account" setting. It will give you a tracking number. Disregard anything about adding code.

Back on HubPages, go to My Account and then go to Affiliate Setting and add your Analytics code there.

Go back to Analytics and sign in. In the upper left corner, choose Analytics Settings. On the bottom, choose "Add Website Profile". Choose "Add a Profile for a New Domain" and then put in http://hubpages.com/profile/yourprofile.

That's it. It will take about 24 hours before you start to see traffic show up in Analytics.

I've done all that and I get this message:

    Profile Name:     hubpages.com/profile/nicomp
    Website URL:     http://hubpages.com/profile/nicomp
Web Property ID [?] :     xxx
Tracking Status:     warning   Tracking Not Installed (Last checked: Jun 22, 2009 8:23:15 AM )
The Google Analytics tracking code has not been detected on your website's home page. For Analytics to function, you or your web administrator must add the code to each page of your website.

Hmmm...I'm clueless. Are you sure you put the right code in the Affiliates section of your account?

Hopefully I did. I don't know for sure.
