    and why?

I would balance the budget, cut foreign aid and reduce our military presence overseas.

I would then get amendments in the constitution to have term limits, publicly financed campaigns and lobby reform.

If we survived all of this I would work on compromises in social reforms that are not germane to any of the aformentioned actions.

I would follow my personal agenda because I have a problem with how the country is treating my race of people. I would make sure that I get back the power which they have lost. I would make sure to fool everyone that I indeed care about   e v e r y o n e   but instill programs that benefit my chosen people. I would ignore the Constitution to do this. I would do this whether or not the country ends up loosing its economic freedom, its morals, its values, it traditions, its love of life and its freedoms. Yep, thats what I would do...
                                                                 !
                                                            !  Not !
                                                                 !

Substitute "I" with "Bush" and "race" with "rich friends," and this turns out to be astoundingly accurate.

Well, first I'd slap myself just to see if I'm awake or not. Then I'd wonder how the hell I became President without an assload of money and/or a legal degree, and then I'd say "Fsck it" and nuke the Middle East once and for all. Because I totally can.

I would abolish the IRS, repeal the law that made me President and then resign.

I would remove "legal" marriage stipulations.
I would put minimum wage to $50.00 an hour.
I would make sex illegal for all (except homosexuals) who are not making a minimum of $150,000 a year.
Mistakes would be mandatorily aborted. (Jail time for breaking the law for the woman, unless she can prove she was forced. This would give lawyers plenty of work... and aid to the economy.)
Corporations would be taxed 50% for the survival of all needy people.

Who is paying that kind of minimum wage? You would bring a huge mountain of unemployment to your country. I don't see that helping anyone. The money has to come from somewhere to pay out.  I think you must be trying for sarcasm.

I'd sell it. I could use the money.

In reality I'd do more to bring jobs in for people who are unemployed and I'd support small biz, especially home businesses. How can a country succeed if it's people aren't working and earning enough to buy the stuff being sold which keeps everything going. Also, it would help if there were far less imported crap from China, India, etc. How can a country survive economically if they keep giving their money away rather than supporting their own people?

Thank you. I read up and realized it was a joke thread. It is interesting to read what people really do think. But, those threads tend to be flame wars so I avoid them. I don't know why I popped into this one. But, I did find you and interesting people are nice to find.

Ban guns for good! Because violence breeds violence.

Yeah, that way, bad guys won't have guns. Right?

Just like bad guys don't have drugs.

And criminals who aren't allowed to have guns don't have guns.

And the mob families didn't have alcohol when it was illegal either.

      Right?

      1. Louise Lately profile image60
Louise Latelyposted 11 years agoin reply to this

No that's not right - there will always be guns around but keeping them readily available for everyone is not the answer.

There will always be guns in the hands of criminals, drug lords, gangs, not to mention anyone who goes online and buys one off the black market, or prints one off at home.

Saying that the people who actually obey the laws shouldn't have them doesn't make any sense at all.

    2. innersmiff profile image68
innersmiffposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Which is an absurd statement to make since one necessarily needs violence to confiscate the guns.

Louise, if 3 guys break into your home, what do you plan on doing? You have to survive for 5-10 minutes until the police show up*, so what's your plan?

*assuming that you even have the chance to call them, which much of the time you don't get the chance.

Hi Jaxson, that's assuming quite a lot - hard violence is not something that I'm faced with or anyone I know either. I'm not talking about drug lords etc. they will always have guns but when it comes to making guns available for everyone - they get into the wrong hands. The thought that anyone can get their hands on a semi-automatic in the US is mind boggling.

There's no way for you to know if you will face it or not. There are 4 million home invasions a year. In more than 1 million of those, someone is home when it happens. Many, many of those, are random.

That means about 1 out of every 100-150 homes is broken into every year, with a member of the household present. It's not as rare as you might think, even in nice neighborhoods.

None of my family or friends have ever had to use a fire extinguisher, but I still have one.

        1. Louise Lately profile image60
Louise Latelyposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Are you saying that every man, woman and child should have a gun? Do you see that as the answer to "safety" and "protection"? Maybe schoolchildren should have classes on how to handel guns?

          1. profile image0
JaxsonRaineposted 11 years agoin reply to this

I think every adult should have a gun, and a security system, and a fire extinguisher, but i'm not going to force them to have any of the above.

What is your answer? Hope you have time to call the police, and the bad guys don't kill you while you wait 10 minutes for them to show up? Sorry, my answer is to prepare for the situation.

And no, I wouldn't have a problem with teaching children how to handle guns, or teaching them how to deal with emergency situations, or to think critically, or a number of other things that we don't teach kids.

A semi automatic would be good against the armies of US,  China, Russia or a band of terrorists, etc.

Or against a druggie or regular burglar who breaks into your home with a crowbar, bat, knife, or gun.

I can't understand saying 'Yeah, bad guys will still have guns, but nobody should be able to defend themselves'.

I would gradually and then quickly, change the country into socialism.   Our modern problems can be solved with equality and fairness! I would make life fair for all through equality. If some start making more money than others, there is no reason they should not share their wealth with the less fortunate! It is all a matter of luck after all. Everyone should be dealt the same deck of cards. I would make sure that happens!

Just kidding! Of course, I would turn the country over to the One World Government. It has to happen. The globe has become so small due to air transportation and the real and potential virtual realities of our computer age. No boundaries, no countries, minimum and maximum wage for every citizen of the earth@ $15.00 an hour.  All will be taxed according to income and the UN will regulate the world economy through control of energy production and natural resources including mineral and precious gem mining. The microchip idea is a great Idea... everyone will have it implanted and for those who do not comply... well they would be on their own.   They would become the savage outsiders...
Free idea for authors or script writers:

I would give free life time supplies of pharmaceuticals of choice to all who permanently give up their guns. (Totally worth it to the government.)
    See, Innersmiff? No violence...
    Even trade!
    Right?

On the other hand, maybe I would tell the New World Orders Guys to go Jump in a Lake. Politely, of course. I wouldn't want to piss THEM off. Cuz maybe I, as president, would care about the citizens of the country and maybe I would like to seriously figure out what would be good for them. Which of course, as we all know, is interdependence through independence and a percolating economy brought forth by economic freedom, (without all the BS!)
