Religion: What's your thought's?

   I'm not atheist or anything like that, i just have my own perceptions of religion. I believe that their is a God that does not want his children praying to his son Jesus. I believe that prayer is great when it is directed towards the stars and vast galaxy.  However, religion in my eyes is tainted. what do some of you ladies and gents think?

      Let's think about this. You believe in God. You believe Jesus is the son of God. Which would mean you believe that son was resurrected.  Which basically means your concept of God was derived from the Bible. Why, then, do you think directing prayer out into the galaxy is the more reasonable approach?
      
      Not saying anything is wrong with your idea: I'm simply curious why you would advocate a depersonalization. It sounds kind of like; if I wanted to talk to Bob, most people thought we needed to call Bill, to get in touch with Bob; but I chose instead to use a megaphone at the city limits, assuming Bob would hear me.
      
      Most Christians assume God is everywhere. Why would you attempt to project your thoughts into the universe?
      
      Or do you assume God is out there somewhere, too far away to hear you without projecting your thoughts across long distances? If that is the case, why do you think he is so far away? The chances of being heard would be astronomical. It's a very large universe.

         Everyone prays to the universe. When people bow their heads in prayer and pray to their God aren't their thoughts and prays projected to the heavens which means it has to enter into the galaxy to reach the heavens anyway. None us knows what God looks like or if he even exist. I believe that we are higher beings that can control more than we think in existence.  I believe despite how far he is, he can still hear those thoughts...  if he is creator of all creators then he is embedded in all things that are not man made and through those things he receives your information.

            I wouldn't think everyone was praying to the universe. Only those claiming to. The word heaven and the term the heavens are not necessarily synonymous.
            
            You seem to be inconsistent here. If God is embedded in all things, why are you insisting he is far away? If he were embedded in all things, aren't you a thing?

               I am speaking hypothetically when I say, "I believe despite how far he is, he can still hear those thoughts." To be honest I believe that since we are made in his image. We are the closes thing to him.
               
               Does this bring about some form of clarity for you.

                     I don't really have a philosophy. If I had one I would not want you to understand it. If its my philosophy. If you was not going to consider what I said then why even comment at all on this forum?

                        I have considered what you said. It is simply that it doesn't really add up. But you have admitted that you don't want another to understand your philosophy so I would think, at this juncture, you have achieved that goal.

      I guess that I never thought much about where I was directing my prayers.  Maybe i used to direct them outwardly.   But any more it is "Kinda Like" (not speaking literally) there is a a radio type transmiter in my brain that I am speaking to.  After all if I did hear an answer, this is where the sound of the voice I hear is coming from.
         Unless it is about a really serious issue, I just have a conversation like I am walking beside where he is.     It is only when I am not walking where I think he is that there is anything terribly seriously to pray about.
      At these times I get in that special posture and speak with a loud pleading tone.  As if he is too far away to hear me because I've straed too far from where he is; (kinda like I'm mentally separated)

   We are all free to interpret religious faith as we so choose.
   
   From the Judeo-Christian Bible it is recorded that Jesus has earned that right to be prayed to. God himself requires that we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

      But, the giant lizard that sneezed the universe into existence does not recognize Jesus as having the right to be prayed to and states emphatically God is actually one of his minions gone rogue.

            ATM, I agree with DH.  You are indeed a heretic if you ignore the origins of the universe as postulated by the Holy Book, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

                        I could have just been utterly fascinated by Alan Rickman's portrayal of Marvin...lol  And I think Sam Rockwell was amazing as Zaphod.  I also have a weird crush on Bill Nighy.

                  The TV series wasn't too bad, better than the movie. The movie version did have a great big band version of "Thanks For All The Fish" rolling with the credits at the end. I love this tune...

   It's plain to see confusion abounds on this subject... and God is not its author.
   Do you really believe the universe REALLY hears you when you pray?
   C'mon now, everyone knows that doesn't make sense.  The universe is the creation of the CREATOR, it doesn't make sense to pray to a non-living entity. You'll never get answers to prayers that way.
   I agree, as you can see, that there is a problem with religion, a big problem. Open your Bible and read Revelation 12:9 - that explains it, but we do have to believe what the Bible says - Satan is the author of confusion, he rules this world right now, but not for much longer!
   Praise God for his awesome plan for His Son to return and save mankind from themselves. All of us! It's our only hope...
