Gays and religion

    What's religion's view about gays?
Does bible, or any holly book accept gay as natural person?
Are gays near from God or far away from God?

      My dear mohamedhmm,
this is a question I have asked myself as well.
I don't know about the Holy Bible. In hindu philosophy you have the ardhnariswar (shiva is half man and half woman). Shiva is the light or Allah and from him all entities arise ,he is all entities. This is slightly different from gays but basically there is too much of a woman in a man or too much of man in a woman-gays.

There is a community called eunuchs who mainly beg . People are sacred of their curse. The story goes that when Ram was sent into exile he had many following him as he was supposed to be the next king. At the edge of the forest he says- "all woman and men should go back this is my order".

The eunuchs being neither man or woman stayed back for thirteen years till he returned from his exile.
Happy he bestowed the power of the word on them- what they say will come true.

I suppose god is fine with gays as well  smile

God is Same for everyone and only those persons comes near to GOD/ALLAH who obeys Allah ... Being Gay is prohibited in Islam - Religious knowledge tell us that Gays are doing sins and Their sins will be removed if they leave these activities and God forgives them when they feel shame on their doings

The following answers all your questions

      Qur'an, Ch 7 - THE HEIGHTS, V 80 - 84

      80. We also (sent) Lut: He said to his people: "Do ye commit lewdness such as no people in creation (ever) committed before you?

      81. "For ye practise your lusts on men in preference to women : ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds."

      82. And his people gave no answer but this: they said, "Drive them out of your city: these are indeed men who want to be clean and pure!"

      83. But we saved him and his family, except his wife: she was of those who legged behind.

      84. And we rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): Then see what was the end of those who indulged in sin and crime!

There is one here too. Looks you won't rest unless you gets rid of all gays around. You started this thread and "gay and science" in science forum at the same time, 11 hours ago and yes there is one in politics too "Gay and politics" and this too 11 hours ago. What do you want man? We are all sick and tired of this. You got too much of attention in your thread "Vote no for same sex marriage", now stop it. Come up with something new, innovative or at least something that is not related to gay. Please!

Dude, the real question is do you really believe in your God?  Because, seriously, if your God, however you fashion him in your mind, really has ANY power at all, He will make all the evil gays suffer horribly for all of eternity.  Isn't that the upside of having a religion that works like yours does?  You can rejoice in knowing that God will devastate and torment with everlasting anguish all those who dare to not live in the world as you tell them He says they should.

So, given this uplifting spiritual reality, really, don't you think you could just chill already?  Take solace from the fact that everyone who doesn't believe as you do will be miserable for undending eternities while you bask in your superiority.  Be happy.  It's only a matter of time!

    Love,

I have read all the comments

and  the original question ( of course)

Am I close or far from God ?, only God can truly answer that.

Yet I have a question for you to ponder.
    In Christan religion

Humanity's full from grace was  not because Adam and Eve ate of the fruit of knowledge ( though this is widely believed to Be the case) . the full from grace was it was that they lied to God about eating of the fruit of knowledge.
so which is worse to be or have Homosexual leanings get married have children and live a lie, and end up hurting and yes destroying emotionally everybody they love, As no lie lasts forever.
Or to be honest about who or what you are. To seek the face of God Honestly ( via whichever of the religions/ or no religion you feel is the right path for you)  to seek the Devinne face and know him and her as best as any mortal man or woman can.Yet above all to have a personal relationship with the  life force of the universe the creator whom we call God. For though we may seek to know the face of God, non can truly ever know God.For the life Force and creator of all is not so simplistic that we can know all.

God did not error and all are created in his image Gay, Lesbian, Heterosexual and in the Islamic sect just like any other religion there are Gay and Lesbian in it the only thing different is they are more secretive. " Let those be without sin, cast the first stone." I have friends who are Gay a sister who is Lesbian and we are heterosexual. We need to concern ourselves with our own souls and stop worrying about what someone does in there bedroom. The homosexual population are not outcasts they are people created in his image. All humans have homosexual tendencies some act upon it, some are born with it and some do nothing but call it a sin.

I think, that homosexual people can be independantly spiritual, much like a person engaging in premarital sex can be individually spiritual, etc. sin is all sin, but nobody can say what another person struggles with or how their walk with the Lord is. I do think that it is misleading to openly accept homosexual behaviors  (not homosexual people) people are who they are based on their unique set of psychological setups and disorders. anxiety (shyness) is a disorder too (can even be considered sinful) which is what homosexual acts  definately are, sinful, but I am not sure if that was the question. It is not what creation was meant for. Hederosexual relationships are "functional" (with a function of reproducing) which isnt necessarily what the world needs today that is a whole seperate issue.,but my point is this, that homosexual relationships are dysfunctional (without a function) it is perfectly ok to have deep love (dont be strayed by what type of "Love" im talking about not lust) relationships with other men and women of the same sex, but it is unnatural, dysfunctional, and perversion, to be swayed in a sexual fornication in this matter, sexual acts should be natural out of love and for a purpose not for a lust driven feeling, and there are plenty of ways for people to express deep attachment and love without having sexual relations. So I almost kind of feel as though by being widely forced to accept behaviors of homosexuals the rights of Christians or religious people in America is being violated, its unneccessary display of inappropriate affection, and hederosexual relationships shouldn't be displayed sexually in front of children or open public either. Hederosexual relationships are taught to children in the form of its function of reproduction, I do find it awkward that they are trying to implement the lesson about the gay penguins in schools now, its unneccessary and dramatic and exposing our children to unneccesary , dysfunctional doctrine. Maybe we should just incorporate a religious education class so people can learn to be patient and educated about why or what other people believe in and the principals behind it, there is a way to be peaceful, but there is no way to liberate all individuals unless we set a margin of what is right and what is wrong.

There are two schools of thought on this topic. One is to validate a moral free-for-all becauuse there is no God! And if there is and he is against homosexuality then hes not a loving God so who cares. The other chooses to accept Gods Laws as just that, Laws. I've been called a homophobe, so this is the opinion of a homophobe.

You know I like you so hold on. Morality has nothing to do with God? Do you have majic mushrooms in Australia? Actually my favorite uncle died of Aids and my sister is a lesbian by choice. My position is based on a full life of experiences, not all bad, but not all moral either.

        1. earnestshub profile image88
earnestshubposted 8 years ago in reply to this

That's what I said. Morality has nothing to do with god.
Glad to know you are not homophobic, you said it about yourself first, I know understand that you have not been in agreement with all your experiences with homosexuals, and I can relate to that also. I have been called a homophobe by a couple of people too, I wanted to throw some light on that. smile
As far as morality goes, we understand a lot about children these days that allows us to assist moral and mental development.
Modern parents understand a lot more than they get credit for.

My view of it is that until age 7 a child should be allowed to be narcissistic as this assists in a knowledge of "self" and in this period parents need to respond to the child's feelings with love and real life situations are introduced later that allow discretion of good and bad that is related to the child's own feelings when the results of his behavior affect him.

The many opportunities to display the results of "bad" behavior of the child are carefully selected to reflect back on the child's own feelings.
This work goes on throughout these first seven years while the child's mind is establishing it's individual values.
Siblings and peer interaction teaches the basics to children, but that does not mean they are going to accept it yet. Patience is essential with parenting. smile

If confidence and self worth are well established in these first seven years, the child will always have good moral values, because empathy has been learned through early contact with the child's own feelings from experiencing the outcome himself.
Children, if left to develop in their own way like this become loving, caring people in the main. smile

You're the most rational wrong person I ever spoken with. Just kidding! I agree, to a point, but not all people raising children are as rational and they could use some training. Thats exactly where the Bible teachings offer the most tangible support. There are good people in every walk of life but I believe you'll find a higher percentage that are involved in that enviroment. They have positive reinforcement and that helps perpetuate the fellowship and bonding of not just family but neighbors.

The morality which you define does not bothers any thing even drunkardness, homosexualy, adultry, illegitimatacy, suicide, killings, rapes, gambling etc etc etc. Your mind is limited, you can not infer 100% correctly what is good or what is bad for you. That's the reason God as your Creator sent you guidlines about what is moraly right and what is wrong for you as indivisuals and as a whole. You have to accept it just as you accept the prescription of a doctor whom you visit frequently.

God creates human beings and He knows better what is right and what is wrong for a human. That's the reason He has forbidden humans to get involved in homosexuality. Even our modern science is against homosexuality and gave several reasons for that.

What would you teach a 3 year old or a 5 year old from the bible that you could not teach from, say, simple transactional learning? And how would you teach it? Children learn in many ways, but not from being told "because I said so, or this book said so."
By the way my twin girls at 3 could learn so fast, but if told to believe anything, they want proof! Most of the contributors here are not that switched on! smile

You proved my point! I'd bet 85% of the people raising children have no idea what 'transactional learning ' means. You head into the inner city projects here and there is no parenting. So, whether you're a intelligent parent, as you are, or a ditch digger like me, how you get from point 'A to B' is not important as long as you try.

Well heres a little secret, we never forced any of our beliefs on our son. We felt he should start with a clean slate. We answered the questions that were asked and all we said was,"Good boys get good things and bad boys get bad things, what do you want?" He found Christ when he realized he identified with the church kids more than some of the others.

Strange, I've known heterosexuals that were more lewd, immoral, and sexually perverse than some homosexuals.  I'm not saying this is the norm, but I get the feeling that if an evangelical Christian were confronted with a celibate homosexual, (or even a monogamous homosexual) and a heterosexual swinger; they would do the following.

To the heterosexual swinger:  'That's a bad thing to do.'

To the celibate/monogamous homosexual:  YOU EVIL HORRIBLE PERSON!  REPENT!  REPENT OF YOUR WAYS!!  YOU ARE RUINING THIS WORLD!  WOE AND WOE!

I'm not saying all evangelical Christians are like that, but a lot of them are.

The religious tomes are a source of so much hate, that people hand pick whatever they hate from these books and project them on to some minority.

All the evil that is "in the world" is really in the world, not in or outside any particular belief.
Humans are inherently afraid of dying, and have a built in fight or flight mechanism, of course no matter how "far out" a religion is it will have followers based on this fear until psychological proof of the roots of the human condition are established and accepted. smile

The thing is, that if the parents are not parenting, how do you reach them? Transactional learning comes down to one small book with a reading age of about 8 years.
It is logical, proves it's outcomes and does not involve faith, just simple application. Would you prefer to teach from something as old as the bible?
There are hundreds of training and teaching systems based on what we know today. smile Love is the key. Same story, comes about through good socializing skills being developed. smile
