Recent traffic increases

   I seem to have had a slight boost in traffic the last couple of days.  Whether it is HP changes (crackdown on the numbers of Amazon capsules etc.) or a Google change to the algo, or a combination of both, I don't know.  I hope it continues, however...
   
   Anybody else seeing increases?

      I've had a slight increase but am still 30% behind the eight ball and CPMS are also less.  Not much for all the work I've put in here.

         Oh the CPMS is crap.
         I dont think I have ever seen it this low on mine.
         Its so low I'm thinking about switching back to HP Ads and letting them have a go at it.

      Recently we all were in a panic situation of less traffic, less revenue, hubs getting not featured, etc. Anyhow it is a welcome trend and give us some sort of confidence. Let it prevail so and last longer. God bless all.

   Have got about a 10% increase after my 50% drop so still far below where I was a month or so ago... Will be interesting to see how things pan out over the next few months.

   What is with the new Amazon policy?  I just spent a lot of time trimming my Hubs down to two Amazon products per capsule and then suddenly they went ahead and trimmed them all down to just one Amazon product per capsule without me doing anything.  That would have been nice if they had done so from the get go and saved me a lot of time, but only one produce per capsule?  Sometimes that just doesn't cut it for what you want to advertise, but HP wants to please G, so they set the rules.

      Google deemed pages with too many Amazon capsules to be "spammy".  Those pages hurt the site (and effectively other hubbers), so HP has no choice but to clamp down.

         I understand.  It just would have been nice if they did it globally from the start, instead of idling Hubs for having too many Amazon links.  After I spent a great amount of time weeding down Amazon links from Idled hubs to two, they immediately did a global change and made all Amazon capsules contain one link.

         I'm not so sure it was Google that deemed it spammy, but a wild guess on the part of Hubpages. My traffic is up just a tiny bit, so possibly it helped.

            With respect, if you are "not sure that it was Google that deemed it spammy", then I would speculate that you probably don't read the emails that HP send you, or have awareness of the detailed feedback that is available through Google Webmaster Tools.  There is actually solid information out there in this specific case (Amazon capsule numbers hurting pages), no wild guesses required.

       I agree.  This recent traffic increase makes sense in the context of children returning to school and people returning from vacation.  Time to hit the Internet search engines again.

    Yes, I saw a bit of an increase yesterday and I was surprised and glad. I figured it was a back to school, end of summer vacation thing. I certainly hope it continues too.

       damn... reminding us all about traffic... it was all lost behind the spam.. lol
       
       But I will say one thing... having reviewed some of my hubs that have lost traffic I can see why when I look at them critically with what i know now (not what HP is telling me to do I hasten to add). I have made so many mistakes in the past, it really is time to revisit some of my old hubs...

    I'm still seeing red arrows, despite it being a Friday and a holiday weekend here in the US.  No dramatic increases, but still some hope that it will turn into a gradual upward trend - my hopes of a sudden, full recovery are small, however.  We are entering the busiest four months of the year, so I am crossing my fingers at this stage and hoping for the best...

       Me too. My traffic dropped briefly, then went back up. I'm thinking it's a good sign, and glad that the next four months are hopeful.

    After the recent Google update last month my traffic increased by about 30%. Recently I have seen another huge jump by about another 30% which means it has almost doubled from where it was stuck for the past year.

    Things are definitely looking up, traffic increases are beginning to stabilize, as well as earnings. Thank God. People are back to work, back to school, searches are up, 'tis the season.

    It seems to me there are mass ebbs and flows in general internet interests. That is to say, somebody posts something, somewhere, that tickles someones fancy, and there are slight viral uptakes in interest in a certain subject, so people google that stuff for a little while, and our hubs come up in those searches. Just a kind of small, short term exponential bump in internet activity on any given subject. Would be hard to credit any single thing, really, in my opinion. I think it's a buzz of interest in the internet hive-mind, though, nothing more, nothing less.

       I tend to agree with you, quiterandom. Much has to do with the fickle, "flavor-of-the-month," "what's trending" phenomenon of searchers that makes one have an article that will get hits one day and none the next. There is only so much control we can have over internet behavior.

    I was pleasantly surprised to see a decent boost in traffic last night. I've come to the conclusion that these fluctuations are normal and you'll see more dramatic fluctuations during Google algorithm changes and have to ride them out. I've only been doing this about 16 months, so my observations are new; I'm thinking you need to do this at least a couple years to understand traffic fluctuations and other things. Nothing happens overnight and often only time will tell.
