Oh, my heart goes out to you PS. You have to find a way to break what ever habits that are keeping you alone. It's all so cliche, all the things ppl say, "Join a group, donate your time... etc etc." But you have to make some change or like Einstein said, you're just repeating the same behavior, looking for different results. Do ANYTHING different today... anything at all. Be encouraged that you matter. You have purpose and meaning and you matter!!! But what good is Shakespeare if it's fallen behind the shelf? What good is the Bible or the classics if they're on a shelf too high to reach. You must be accessible to others to be appreciated. I have this desire to spend Thanksgiving in a soup kitchen... I don't know if I can convince my family of this... but I have this desire anyway. Is there anything like that you could do? (Meals on Wheels?) Love others before you ask for love in return. I know you will be rewarded if you make that effort. (Was that too preachy? Im sorry... I can't help it.)

I sometimes think about all the terrible things that are not happening to me.

I am not, for instance, eating jellied eels. That thought injects a little glee into my life.

You were lauding croutons in salads in another thread!

I was genuinely traumatized the last time I bought a salad in a Pizza Hut type outlet. It was a bucket of white fat with a few lettuce leaves floating on the surface and some soggy croutons.

There, that is another terrible thing that is probably not happening to PDS. He is not eating a death salad.

Was the "bucket of fat" perchance salad dressing? I can't stand too much salad dressing. Its disgusting, and soggy croutons, I believe is an English thing... much like your meat.

Are you getting enough rest?  Are you able to treat yourself to a good meal?  Remember that our minds often decide to go off and blow things out of proportion.  Like Will says, keep things in perspective.

You're never truly alone as long as you're communicating with other human beings, be it online or otherwise.

Alone? Like, in a room full of people?  Like no family/friends?  Like, you are rejected in some way?
I ask because I have been alone. I kinda liked it! Probably because I've always been "surrounded". I needed some space. But you are sad? I hate to hear that. But encourage yourself.
You're a good writer.  It's obviously one of your talents.  Be courageous. SSomebody loves you (I just know it). Forgive yourself (whatever that means). You are here. Tell yourself why. smile

Miss C: I saw a movie about a story in the Bible about King Solomon. He was king of Israel, son of King David. In this movie, he fell in love with the Queen of Sheba. Now, at this time, Solomon believed in the One-God, but fell into the acceptance of many gods through his passion for this alluring queen. He even got her pregnant. In the end, she developed a love for the One-God, gave up her many gods, and she left King Solomon to go back to the land of Sheba to have the child and convert her country into a One-God believing country. Isn't that a sweet story?  Not true to the bible, however. Total fiction.

Bible report: In the end Solomon becomes quite corrupted: Has 700 wives,  princesses, and 300 concubines. The bible states: "and his wives turned away his heart."

      1. Cgenaea profile image60

At THAT point, all was not lost to Solomon.  He had yet another chance.

no... he did not. But one of his son's did. I think my point was that it could be worse for Parry. Can you imagine 700 wives and princesses and three hundred concubines? Why, that is a city of women!
*Being alone is like being in heaven:  he who does not value solitude does not value freedom.* ( Even an atheist can agree.)

Just so I know you understood me; as long as Solomon lived, he had a chance to return to his first love.
Also, I think loneliness is human. Solitude often produces lonely results.  Man was not meant to be alone.  Some are sequestered for a time, but it is natural to desire some companionship.  It could be worse, yes. But sadness is heart-pulling.

what sign are you? My guess is Capricorn. Women love Capricorns. But these men never realize it. They sulk, they stay inside, they huddle on their computer writing things…  when they do go out it is with the guys and they watch women play pool and are too shy to do anything about it. They think that gal over there would never want anything to do with them. She's too beautiful, or she's too smart, or she's too uppity… or she's too blond, or not blond enough or whatever.  And when they do finally strike up a conversation, they are disappointed by the shallowness of the poor girl who just wanted to say something witty, but failed, because he made her so nervous….

Or just state whether or not you believe in a higher power in the religious forums and bingo... you're in again. Or you can just say "boo" to me and I'll always respond. You are embarrassingly kind, Beth. But it is obviously untrue that you have no life. For one thing you have a library. I would trade all the bars in my town for a library.

You have a daughter too. Who has birthday parties.

Gonna do a PDS thing here and copy and paste:

At the age of thirty-seven she realised she'd never
Ride through Paris in a sports car with the warm wind in her hair.
So she let the phone keep ringing and she sat there softly singing
Little nursery rhymes she'd memorised in her daddy's easy chair.

Her husband, he's off to work and the kids are off to school,
And there are, oh, so many ways for her to spend the day.
She could clean the house for hours or rearrange the flowers
Or run naked through the shady street screaming all the way.

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YANUIa_bHoU

ps You don't need anything personal from an old guy slinking reluctantly towards eternity.

You try to validate your self in places like the snake pit. And users in their dont value you. Try to keep to places that think of you as a good person, not just a conversation piece. You write brilliant hubs that mean something to the people that read them. Stop selling your self short. Seriously. You are worth more than you admit.

Was more than happy to do it. Students and parents can save a fortune doing the freshman and sophomore years at a junior college.

Jeez..., a lot of the hubs I have been visiting have not had any comments in over a year.

Thats because a lot of people never check out hubs. They are focused on other things. I just read the work of shinkicker. That is some funny stuff. Especially the one about interior decorating in police stations. It was funny. Real humor not a parody that does not make sense. I wish more hubber wrote like that.

Well, finished going through the entire list. Not only did some return favors, but also did lots of paying it forward. Think I'll go and try to write some sort of helpful bubble.
