Any particular songs, artists, or genres that you find especially motivational when you write?
If not in rock and roll mood, here's some good background music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOIjvHjK0Rw

I find Strauss very relaxing and stimulating. I write better (especially fiction) when I listen to him and work.
I'm beginning to see a trend. I must be an oddball with the constant metal.
Nothing wrong with metal if that's what gets your neurons firing.
Always seem to work when I want to argue the point with someone.

Bit of thrash, nice.
I have a work colleague and friend that was the original drummer (Mick Harris) and founder member of the band Napalm Death, he is an original all right, he has many stories to tell so I have been trying to get him to do a few hubs, alas he is more interested in fishing nowadays.

I guess it's whatever pulls your strings...lol When I am not writing I listen to other stuff but the OP asked about writing.
No harm in going into broader strokes with the question. It still adheres to the basic idea.
When I am angry or feeling down because of life stress "It's my life" by Bon Jovi is my mantra. This is my favorite song of all time.
When I'm happy (after listening to Bon Jovi and feeling better) I listen to "It's a Beautiful Life" by Ace of Base.
Then when I'm in my party mood its "Dancing Queen" by Abba.
What I listen to varies. The mood while I am writing is very important. My list of usual artists are Seether, Shinedown, Eminem, Arctic Monkeys, Black Keys, System of the Down, Twenty One Pilots, and Hinder.

Lyric and voice don't interfere at all for me; I like it for the metal symphonics, a cross trade from my usual, but provides a strong musical soung that helps me write producing comfortable results. I am certain it will hit each of our brains in different ways as writers. Try it! There are lyrics, but them seem to fade quickly as I get into my writing swiftly once the music starts. This is a lengthy collection and works well if you are going to write for a longer period.
Another: Aaron Parks: Arborescence. 11 songs, again good for longer periods; jazz pianist, virtuoso-style, very nice.
I don't have separate playlists. There is only my music folder, and that's that.

What are some good workout songs to add to my playlist? I like running and circut training...I need to refresh my workout playlist and I'm looking for some new, high energy songs to get me amped and keep me pumped for at least 45 minutes. I love music across all genres, so I'm open to any ideas!
