OK it's maybe not the best song in the world ever, but the new single by boyband JLS is fantastic. It's called "The Club is Alive" and you can hear it here:

The people I'm with gave the gut-reactions of "Love Shack" by B52's, "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd, "Kiss by a Rose" by Seal, and "Something by the Beatles" which I found hilarious.

I don't know if there truly ever was one.  I DO think that there are moments in life when you hear a specific song and for that specific moment that song--if so perfect for the moment--seems like the best song ever.

    Christian music would be
    I Can Only Imagine
This song speaks of what heaven will be like.
"Surrounded by your glory  will I dance for you Jesus, or in awe of you be still? I can only imagine"

    Secular music  would be
Honey by Bobby Goldsboro from the golden olden days of the 60 s

    Classical would be
Ava Maria. The 3 tenors do a beautiful rendition! (Placido Domingo, Jose Carrieres,(m sp?) and Luciano Pavorotti)

I Can Only Imagine is one of the best song I have ever heard! Even just listening to the music is soothing. I have the Soundtrack and will listen to the instrumental only part over and over again. The same with the song of Mercy me---"Word of God Speak!"

"At Last" originally written by Mack Gordon & Harry Warren in 1941.

The song was originally recorded by Glen Miller's Orchestra in 1942, and then again by Nat King Cole in 1957.

However the best and most recognizable version of the song and the one I recommend, is a variation performed & recorded by Etta James in 1960.

"Foolish Games" by jewel.  Because I used to practice it while cleaning my barn as my comrade, friesian horse, Ben looked on.  in the untimeliness of his death....I sat there for 3 hours and sang it over and over and over again until he passed quietly.  I still sing that song and cry every time....kind of like right now.

Best song ever? Like trying to remember the best strip of bacon I ever ate. Lots of good songs but "Amazing Grace" happens to be one of my favs. Like it w/ bagpipes. Met a guy who claimed to have seen Elvis playing it in the clouds. Good enuff for the KING, good enuff for me. Written by a former master of a slave trader.
