I just ticked over to 10000 views and noticed i only have 3 followers.  My assumption is that because I do not upload regular content people view what i have but tend not to follow as there is not much content there.  Is this what the problem is or is it something else i haven't thought about yet?

Adding more content and being more active on the site in general can help you gain more followers but I wouldn't worry too much about them.  Followers are nice for the occasional comment or social share but they really don't bring in any revenue (via ad clicks or purchases).

Getting traffic from Google is the most important thing to worry about since that's where the money comes from.

So its a bit more of a feel good community thing rather than a tactic for increasing revenue.

One advantages of having followers it that they sometimes share your hub on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. That is a big advantage.

I agree with skear, but if you do want more followers you should comment on other people's hubs and follow more people. Don't go crazy with it, following too many too quickly will negatively impact your hubber score, which also only matters if you care.

I have gained between 0 and 3 followers in the last year. Before that, people were more inclined to follow. It seems to be a thing of the past now.

Authors are shy about following someone with so few hubs. It's believed to bring a hubbers score down.

Followers aren't a big thing. If you are more active in the community, you might gain more, but ultimately (to gain revenue) you care about the search engine traffic.

I found that getting followers is a ration of time you've been a member factored against how much time you spend interacting with other site members.

If you don't have much of either, you won't have many followers.
