Is the American Flag a threat to the Muslim Community?

   According to the huffington post and the young turks, it's been reported that a man living in texas was told to take down his american flag that he had hanging outside of his balcony in his apartment.  According to the apartment manager that told him to take it down, they said it's a threat to the muslim community; hence he ordered the tenant to take down the american flag.  Needless to say, the tenant refused to do this.

   To be honest, I'm surprised this is even an issue, as I fail to understand how the american flag is any kind of threat to the muslim community, but what do I know?  I honestly think this is beyond stupid, and that apartment manager needs to be fired. 
   
   Seriously, let the man hang the flag if he wants.  Who cares?  It's his right to do so.

      Yes, it is stupid. If I visit another country, or even move to another country, I would be a really small-minded person to demand a neighbor to remove their flag from display. And any landlord that took up my cause would be just as petty.

      We have had this sort of thing happening in the UK in the past and it riles a lot of people. I once read that a man in Bradford was told by there local council to take the flag down as it cause trouble with his Asian neighbours, unfortunately they forgot to check before they sent him the letter as he was the Asian gentleman and his neighbours where White English............
      I think this is a case of politically correct bureaucracy by liberal lefty thinkers who haven't thought it out at all.
      
      My answer to anyone who complained about my nationalism is that people who have come to this country have come for many different reasons but all enjoy the freedoms we offer them, if they don't like those freedoms that are afforded them the same as they are afforded myself then they are living in the wrong country and should move to another with their views and biased opinions.
      I will tolerate all cultures but I will not change mine because someone else will not tolerate it.

               Well seeing as how most of the links carried a denial from the council involved, how does that count as hysterical?
               
               Every Christmas in Manchester there will be letters to the local paper complaining about the council banning Christmas and every Christmas the paper will carry letters from councillors denying this and concluding with a "Merry Christmas" salutation.
               Still the letters continue year after year.

                  I think its misguided individuals who have nothing better to do.
                  If it didn't happen it wouldn't be mentioned anywhere, why would it be?
                  
                  Manchester sounds a bit like Birmingham John. And I must concede that sometimes mixed messages come from the council. My old friend councillor Lines always had an excuse for something that never really happened?

   Reading those stories makes me conclude that Mr Flag Flyer is an attention whore who got his knickers in a bunch about an apartment rule not to hang stuff off the balcony and started just making shit up.

      Where did you find the, "apartment rule not to hang stuff off the balcony?" All I could find was the Lodge on El Durado management statement that contained this; "... guidelines maintain the aesthetics of our apartment community and provide for the safety of all residents."
      
      Although we only have the reporter's word for it, what about the other "patriotic displays" mentioned on other balconies? Do you think the reporter was lying?
      
      There wasn't any other verification of the manager's "Muslim" remark, so it's a "he said... she said..." issue - is that what prompted you to decide he (Mr. Tran - Mr. Flag Flyer), was an attention whore? And what makes you think he was just making stuff up?
      
      You could be right of course, but still, you must have some inside knowledge that leads you to those conclusions - because nothing in the linked article or video, or related news stories about it offer the perspective you have.
      
      ps. the reporting station, KHOU of Houston, is a Gannet Co., not a Fox News affiliate.- as in Main Stream Media reporting

      Yeah but in the absence of evidence I tend to go with the null hypothesis. In my job I give info to the public and journalists verbally and they hear it wrong more often than they hear it right, no matter how clear I try to be. And that doesn't even cover the people who just lie so they can paint themselves as a martyr or pursue their agenda.

            It also served when some idiot gets all vindictive just because you ask him not to hang things from the balcony.  Rather than just letting every entitled idiot who thinks the rules don;t apply to him use the dog whistle of Islamophobia to get his own way.
