I used to write on Yahoo Contributor Network and when they closed, they said we had the rights to our content that went unpublished. I was going to bring one of my articles over here, but noticed it got reposted, with my byline, to another site when someone had read it and so it remains on the internet, but just as a repost (like if someone had reposted something to Pinterest, but this is just a random site). Can I still republish as a hub, or do I need to rewrite the whole article?
Yahoo may have told you you had the "rights" to your article, but when you did not immediately take it, ask Google to de index it and then repost it here, somebody obviously stole it because they had read the original article.
Yahoo made it very clear that articles might remain online, so it was up to you to use Google's removal tool to get it off line.
I'm sure this happened to many people, and it is why I removed every single article from my Yahoo site before they closed up shop, took the ones I felt were worthwhile and rewrote them for HP or posted them on Bubblews.
I do not think at this point that filing a DMCA will do you any good. I would rewrite the article from a different angle and post it as a new one here.
If you have the url, use google url removal tool. If someone copied the content and published it file a DMCA report. http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/how- … -complaint
File your complaint. But overall it is probably best to rewrite your article. If you know where your article was posted write directly to that website location and ask them to give you credit for your article or remove it. Sometimes it can be a direct steal, other times a person may not realize that they have stolen an article.
Oooh. I did not realize I had to do any of that! I thought you just regained the rights to all your articles. I just downloaded them all so I would have them to recycle later. Ok. Thank you. Well, I am upset I missed the boat on 71 articles (if they are reposted)!!!! UGH. I will remember that about the Google url removal tool. I never even knew about it! Very good info to have..... Thank you all for the info.
you can use copyscape to check for duplicate content. There are free plagerism checkers that you also past the content of article into it to see if it is online. Here is link to one of the free ones, but they have a per day minimum which I forget what the number is, but if you hit it, they don't let you do anymore checking until the next day. http://smallseotools.com/plagiarism-checker/
Thank you! I wish I knew all this before! But, from here on out, I am better for this info. Thanks!

Hey everyone. I don't know what it is, but I've experienced a substantial increase in the number of articles that have been copied/stolen from me the last few months. Anybody else experiencing this as well? The latest thief is from Nigeria and refuses to remove my article from his blog...

Usually I find a couple pieces of stolen article copy on different sites. Today, it's more than enough to make me comment here. HP notifies us, adds the complaint link, and the complaint file cut-paste copy but little else to build a brick wall against content thieves. For every click...

I just found that one of my Hubs was stolen in June 2014 and published in a magazine. I wouldn't have found out about it except that they have now put their magazine on-line. It was stolen by a slick looking magazine in Australia, and I am from the US. I told them if it wasn't...

Why can't hubpages do something about our articles stolen by the likes of Apceo? It seems they take just about everything but HP does nothing! HP will lose out too because authors will start removing their pieces.

HP tells me my article Guns for Children has been stolen by a website called Brutalist Press. The offending website says it is "copied" by someone called Helga Dagmar. HP offers advice on what to do but most of it is quite beyond my technology skills, and some of the links admin offers go...
