Another "Why is my Hub Score Falling?" Thread...

Hi folks, I wondered if you could help at all? I am scratching my head at the moment about this, wondering why it is happening.

Whilst I know that Hub scores do go up and down, I have Hubs that were rated in the 90s that are now in the 70s. In particular, an "Editor's Choice" Hub about a monastic settlement in Ireland has plunged to 61!

I'm rather alarmed by all of this. They're not spammy, the content is relevant and researched, and I always check the spelling. I thought it might be to do with me including a capsule with links where to follow me elsewhere on the internet on each of my Hubs, so a couple of days I removed each of these from every single Hub.

Is there any other reason why they might be nose-diving like this? I have 32 Hubs at the moment, all featured, and I average around 400 views a day.

I'm worried that some of them will begin to lose their featured statuses.

Can you suggest what I could do to reverse this slide, or should I just stop worrying and carry on writing?! Thank you.

I see that you recently updated all of your hubs. That can and does cause hub scores to go down sometimes.

Did you update and then see the scores drop?

I did, yes. Last week I removed Amazon capsules that I didn't consider to be all that relevant to the topic, and I reduced the amount of capsules to make the article more reader friendly.

Two days ago, I removed a capsule that was in every one of my Hubs, which I had cut and pasted into each one. It had links to other social media sites that people could follow my work on. I hadn't realised that this was damaging and not encouraged. As soon as I was aware, I took them out. Facebook, Twitter, etc, are now only in my profile in the proper place.

I remember that thread where you were talking about the links to social sites on your hubs.

The landslide of hub scores must have been from updating them. They should come back up again though.

Thank you all, I'll try not to fret then! It has been a good learning exercise, and has also taught me what to watch out for when writing future Hubs.

Yes I think you will find the updating has done it.
I suggest just move on., it's too stressful worrying about it.
It has happened to me also, even when I wrote a new hub I dropped from 93 to 90, that was about a week ago and it has not gone up.

try to update your EC hub and post it at share media to attract traffic. Your hub score falls due to lack of traffic

Hi Pollyanna Jones. I went through very similar drastic changes and drops in scores. It happened before any editing, got worse after editing. I think it's due to HP site changes in QAP and algorithms. Although it is a bother, I don't think we should worry too much. Our articles are still quality articles with maybe a need for a little editing. I can't believe how many articles I have in the low 60s right now after having only 3 or 4 consistently. My 90s hubs have disappeared besides 2 or 3. It looks like some of us are going through a similar transition.

I think that is what worried me. I considered that I had improved the Hubs, and to see them then fall like this was rather disheartening.

That worried me, too. I tried before to bring all my hubs to 70s and I succeeded but last week, many fell to 60s especially those I thought I improved. A bit frustrating really.

I've just discovered how my hub scores change when I edit - I think I'm improving them, but sometimes they drop alarmingly. It makes me hesitant to edit any. I'm just learning the ropes, though, so I'm sure I'm making stooopid mistakes. For now, I'm just plowing forward and believing in the advice everyone gives to keep improving for quality. I'm surprised, though that hubs don't always go up when I improve them. I'm just being empathetic, sorry - not very helpful!

It is helpful! Thanks for posting, Nimblepins. I'm learning too, so I realise now that it's best to get the Hubs "right" from the start, rather than mess about with them and see them fall. I would have thought the scores go up afterwards, not down! I'll put this all down to experience.

Yeah, my hub on Sonic Generations used to be in the 80's. Now it's in the 70's. And it seemed so well-written.

I don't like how this system works to be honest. It's not as if a bad typing fairy has visited overnight and reduced the quality of our articles! I suppose I had best get used to it and just try to get more traffic for older Hubs.

Hello Easy-tasty-recipe, welcome to Hubpages! I joined in August last year, and am still trying to find my way around. The community is really supportive and helpful, so please do ask away if you are confused about anything.

I started this thread, as I have 32 Featured Hubs that used to have scores in the 90s, but have recently seen falling Hub scores. I was trying to figure out why this was happening, as it has been worrying me.

A few days after I made all of those edits, the Hub scores are still as low as they were when they took a plunge. I guess I will have to see what happens to them now.

It happens when you link all or some of your hubs to one hub.
I think there could be other reasons.
    But don't worry too much.

Thank you, Jan Saints. I will avoid that too then. A great tip there.

Recently did exactly the same with the exact same results - some quite drastic drops also.

However traffic has improved since I made the changes and that quite frankly is far more important than any scores.

Another thing that might have caused the drop in hub score is traffic drop. Maybe readers that search your hubs are on break. Hopefully, it will rise again.

Also note that when you edit and the number of words reduce, your hub scores may get decreased as well.

Please fellow hubbers I need help! I mistakenly deleted one of my hub while trying to edit it after I saw a sign saying it could be rated as Over advertised or something. Is there any way I can retrieve it back?
    Thanks in anticipation.

Go to your list of hubs. It will be on the list with a red line through it. Click on that and republish it.
