are you surprised what poems gain popularity and which one just sit unviewed?

Are you talking about our own poems or other people's??

        your own

Like for example you write a poem about something that you think is amazing but has very little views or comments. Then you have a another poem that you never thought that much of,  gains plenty of views and receive warm comments.

What suprised me is that I write a poem which I hate and it gets over 70 views a day...I write one which I really like and I get 2.

Examples of this Drew are "The Lamentations of the Afro Kid" which has proved very popular (Which I hate):

And "The Englishman" which I love but which is unpopular:

        People like simplicity....

I wrote a poem called November 23 I think is my most honest thing I've written which get hardly gets any views. I write a one about my imagination ruling the world and it takes off.

          *Sigh*

The poet is dead now my friend. As long as we conform to simplicity we may aswell not write poetry.

We should rebel or go on strike or something.

That is it, I'm actually going on strike!

The meaning of poetry is getting whittled away into nothingness!

Until the true meaning comes back and people start reading non simplistic stuff aswell then I am going on strike!

haha it kinda inspires me to switch my style up

            learn different types of poems

like limerick, I just recently learned of that style

look at the radio simple music

the artist may make quality music but the hits are usually simple

Always a difficult one with poetry to include the appropriate tags, etc. I presume the ones that succeed are the ones which are well linked to elsewhere and the ones where the author has a great number of fans.

Hi I'm new here and I don't even know how to do things right. My hubs in 'nonsense poetry' are on the first hot hubs page , so i think it doesn't have anything to do with that. I don't even have fans

New concept for me, poetry on Hubs. Of late I have been viewing quite a few. In fact I may post some myself.

Still, I can see why many would go unviewed since for many poetry is an acquired taste.

Hell. I just write, cause I got to get it out. If someone enjoys it then so much better, but if they don't oh well. I go back and read my own and enjoy it. LOL

My good friend Cabin Girl enjoys writing Poems but has been banned from the Forums, she tells me unless Hubs lifts this ban she will delete not only her poems but her account on Sunday !

      Why is she banned?

I can only guess because of that incident on Saturday night which I myself was involved with so Hubpages have decided to basically kill off Cabin Girl which I dont really care about because if she isnt allowed access to the Forum then come Sunday night I will also stay off the forums.

BC, why is she banned, for doing poetry or promoting poetry.  You know us women, we have to have the full story, come on!  smile

For the topic, I love poetry and just getting into it...there should be more men and women promoting poetry.

Because of that topic were myself and Fortunerep let loose, so instead of banning me from the Forums they thought lets kill his double act by banning Cabin Girl from the Forums. Shes not banned, she can still write and comment but I am a person of principle. At the end of the day I am Cabin Girl so basically ban her, then ban me !!

Ohhhh..wow, you have an alter ego too (I like that) However, you are right about standing behind principle for Cabin Girl (you) etc... I am sorry for you and Forturerep too, that just s@$ks! I am feelin' you all!

I am waiting to Sunday and if her ban stands I will stay off the forums as well, let it just become boring because when all is said and done i have seen worse posted in here !

I'm surprised when any poem is popular.  Unless it's been set to music and is called a "song".
