URL Trackers - Is it better to track by hub or location?

   I'm just starting to figure out the URL tracking system.  My question - is it better to assign URL trackers to individual hubs?  Or by the location of the link?  I can see the benefit of knowing how many people are reading individual hubs to see which hubs garner more traffic.  But if I have trackers on different sites, I can also see the benefit of knowing which sites are bringing more traffic to hubpages.  Does this make any sense?  I'm still learning here - would appreciate any helpful info.  Thanks!

      Their is no indefinite way of using trakkers...I have used all my 20 trakkers and would love 100 more at least!!  so which ever way you do decide to use them, use them very wisely!

   You are limited in number of url trackers that you can establish, so that might be problematic for as many hubs as you have.  You might need another way to systematize it.  Link location is probably a better idea.

   Ah, I didn't realize there was a limit - and yes, it does make sense that linking by hub would get pretty hard as the number of hubs increases.  Maybe I'll try to do it by location and category of hub?  I'm interested in seeing how other people do it.

      Frankly I do not see any special benefits in it other than knowing where your traffic is coming from. So far I have used only 3 trackers. And I am not very keen on knowing from where they come You may refer to THIS post in the forum to get an idea.
      
      darkside has published some wonderful hubs on referrals and using the trackers effectively.

   I like setting up trackers by subject matter.. Becuases I have many reptile hubs, I have a reptiles tracker. Same with dogs, dogtraining, etc. You may want to consider that. Otherwise, I'd go with the location (IE site) that you've posted the link on. But many trackers such as blogger, squidoo, etc., are already taken, you'll have to create your own version so that you know what each tracker means and where it's going.
   
   In a way, I agree with sunseven in that I don't really care where my traffic come from, but at the same time, I like using trackers other than the default one. It just looks nicer when you can input HTML into a forum or website or whatever and people see the link versus the title linking to the hub, which is why I like the trackers by subject matter because it looks like it's supposed to be there. (IE for a hub like Bathing Puppies, I would use dogs; or for Caring for Leopard Geckos, I would use reptiles.)
   
   For subjects that I don't have a nice sized group, I just use a general tracker, such as my hub name.

   Thanks Sun and Whitney.  I'm not sure why I like knowing where (really, if) I have traffic coming from my other sites.  It's probably curiosity, but also trying to determine if a specific subject is interesting to others.
   
   Darkside, thanks for the post.  I will definitely read through your info hubs - I hear you are pretty helpful around here!

      I like knowing too.  It helps to be able to see what is working and what isn't.  If you know you get more traffic from certain sites than others, you know to focus on the higher traffic ones or make changes to the lower traffic ones.
