What would Jesus do to celebrate His birthday? We all know that it is really not His birthday but go with me here ... I just wrote a hub ... Christ & Christmas.  Tell me what you think ... what would He do?

Considering you can scour the bible and discover that Jesus and all the early Christians didn't celebrate anyones' birthday. 25th December being the birthday of Mythra a pagan god, I think we can safely assume that jesus would give Dec 25th a miss too.

i think a young jesus would wait in a long line at the local market, the smell of camel dung prevalent in the air he would brave the heat for hours just to sit in santas lap . to ask for a j i joe with the kung  fu grip.

I think he would use the celebration of his birth to teach, and to reach the lost for him.  He would not want his birthday turned into a contest to see how much money could be spent it would go much deeper than that.

I think you stop celebrating after the 2,000th don't you?  He's too old to do much.

I doubt He celebrates.Concidering the price He paid, and the pathetic condition of mankind.Grieves more likely.

He is so loving and forgiving that I think he probably still has hope for all of us. He probably no doubt enjoys the Christmas songs and prayers of those who still have faith in Him.

I think He'd be a tad bit grieved that people are choosing to celebrate his date of birth on a well renown pagan 'holy'-day.

I'd say the same way the rest of his life was supposed to have been lived, as an example of how we should live our lives. In that case, a birthday (and every day) should be celebrated by doing the things that make you feel happy and fulfilled while positively influencing the lives of those around you.

Jesus is saying " O generation of vipers, have you not read that I was with my Father from the very begining,

If you ever knew me in the Spirit you would not find it necessary to set aside time to celebrate the birth of a dead body and  do your "good works" in hypocrisy.

As it is truly written "you honor me with your lips but your hearts are far from me.

I think Jesus would use parables to teach the truth about Christmas which some regard as His birthday. First of all, if you or a family member were born on April 1, which is called All Fools Day, would you celebrate the birthday? What about being born on October 31, which is regarded as Halloween? Someone born on February 29 literally has a birthday every four years, yet grows older during the three years between birthdays.

Considering we have many calendars including the Gregorian and Julian, Jesus Christ could have been born on February 30 or April 31 or June 31 or November 31.Just because these dates do not exist on calendars we use today does not mean they do not or did not exist. There are countless children who do not know their 'real' birthday because of a myriad of reasons.Even some birth certificates  and affidavits are inaccurate about  birth dates.

People today are confused about the true reason behind Christmas, especially since Santa Claus has polluted and diluted the celebration. I think Jesus would educate people so that they understand Christmas is a celebration of the Eucharist, as cited in John 3:16. Yes, the baby in a manger plays a role; and so does Genesis 3:15 as well as the sacrifice of the Spotless Lamb of God.Christians have placed Christ in compartments - Christmas the baby and Easter the agony, death and resurrection of Christ.

Six and one half dozen means the same; and I believe Jesus would make it clear to Christians and the world that Christmas and Easter reinforce each other.

I think he would invite all the people the Christians here at HP hate and treat them well and share stories.

That's what he did in life. Shared stories with the lowest of the low and treated them well.

    Anybody listening?

I am and that is why I wrote the hub ... Christ & Christmas!  I think that we miss the point when it comes to the reason for the season.  You are right, He would invite you to spend time with Him and to get to know Him ... He would want to get to know you.

I remember reading in my grandmothers bible when I was around 12 years old. Which version I do not know, except I remember it was printed in 1875.  Jesus was talking with one of the disciples about his impending death, was ask when his birthday was so that they might celebrate it when he is gone. Jesus said not to celebrate when he came into this corrupt world but to celebrate his leaving it.
I have been half heatedly searching to find out what translation it was that I had read this in. I have read that the KJV was not the most popular translation until the 20 century.
Any one have any ideas as to what translation that it might have been?

I haven't found anything where He says do not celebrate my birth. I did find one verse speaking of celebrating His death.

1Co 11:26  For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink the cup, ye proclaim the Lord's death till he come. ASV

He would probalby change the date from 25 dec because that's actually a day celebrated by the pagans. He would also teach us the same thing He taught when He was living here on Earth before.

With humility.  He wouldn't celebrate something thrown for him, but rather turn it into a teachable moment about how his birth was God's gift to man to use Jesus as the bridge in the relationship between God and man and give us a path to Heaven.

I doubt that Christ would acknowledge His birthday. His heart was for the kingdom of God and a worldly birthday would likely not be significant to Him.
