I’m curious of what the readership spectrum is; for Hub Pages. I have several research papers, some short and some long that I was thinking about posting on Hub Pages. However, if an academic paper would not receive much traffic I would not want to post it to Hub Pages. Rather, I would find a media outlet within Academia markets to post. Does anyone know to what extent research articles may (might) generate traffic on Hub Pages? I’m talking mostly about business research articles and how businesses function as described from an academic perspective.
It would depend whether people search for that stuff on Google - unless you posted links on other academic pages pointing to your stuff.
Either way, though, an academic paper will never get the search traffic that "dating" or "lose weight fast" will get.
How important is the advertising income to you anyway, if you're publishing academic papers?
As long as your readers can find it, it doesn't make much difference where you host it - except it will get indexed pretty fast here. My first Hub was indexed and getting search traffic within hours, before I had posted a single link to it anywhere.
That's a big plus of publishing on HubPages - fast indexing!
You are right Jen that hubs are indexed quickly from the search engine.
But I think it's better to post your research paper on your personal blog or website. This will make your articles connected and also well-compiled. Moreover, you will gain credibility when people know about your site. If you write in HubPages, your research articles will not get connected because there are hubs here and there promoted on your pages.
You can connect Hubs using the "Group" function - then they form an ordered sequence, and people can navigate from one to the next.

You could always publish a few to find out the response and if you are not happy with the results remove them and take them to a different site.....jimmy
No, not a link capsule.
Edit your Hub, and in the box at the top beside the tab which says "summary" is a tab which says "group".
Click that.
There is a drop-down box, and it will contain only the word "-new-"
Click that.
It gives you a box to type in the name of your new group. Type in something relevant to the topic of the Hub (for example, if you have Hubs on Knitting, Woodworking, and Glass-Blowing, you might choose a group name of "Hobbies").
Click "done editing".
Go to each of the other Hubs - you will find the group is now available on the drop-down list. Add all the other Hubs which belong in that group, one at a time.
Now go and look at one of the Hubs, and at the bottom you will see a navigation bar pointing to other Hubs in the group, one to the left and one to the right. You can choose whether or not to display the group name on that navigation bar.
You can change the order of the Hubs in a group at any time, using the "Groups" link on your "My Account" page.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I appreciate the feedback.

Does most of your traffic come from within Hub Pages or from outside Hub Pages?I've noticed that most of my traffic comes from google. I consider this a good thing. However I had been expecting most of my traffic to come from Hub Pages during my first year. I'm wondering if this is similar to...

Hub Pages is faltering?I keep seeing things on forums about Hubpages "tanking" or going down hill or traffic slowing or whatever. Is this just a lull on the internet since it's a busier time, or is Hubpages becoming a lesser place to be a part of?

Does anyone know if the Hub Pages are deleting old accounts that have been inactive for a long time?

I've been a little down about not having received a payout for nearly two years of participation here, but I'm looking at Triond, another writing site, and I must say how grateful I am for the amount of control I have about how my article looks here at Hub Pages by comparison. When I delete...

Is Hub Pages a place for humor?Besides my obvious love for video games, I don't really have a specific niche...I write about pretty much everything and anything, there is no method to my madness. I know I have an off-the-wall sense of humor which isn't for everyone, but I was just wondering if...
