Has anyone put their hand up to buy a domain and create the website yet?  If not, I'm willing to do it.  I have capacity for another site and I don't mind stumping up for the domain name.

I have time to do some basic design but other than that, what I would be doing is using the RSS feed to auto-post a "taster" for each Hub as they are published.   I wouldn't have time to post them all individually!

What name do we want - anyone done the keyword search?

      Marisa Wow!
I am speechless. What a fantastic offer. I really do not know how to thank you and everyone else that has offered so much great support.
As I said early I am one of the great computer dyslexics here on HP and all the technical stuff just baffles me. On the subject of the external web page I would simply love it if you had time to just take over. I am trying to keep things organized but it is growing fast and I would be thankful for your help.

Ohma, what I will do is create an external site and set up the RSS feed so it auto-posts there.

That won't take much effort to do, and it starts getting the posts out there, plus it creates a central site where everyone can see the progress.

        I've got the domain name - HubtrailTravelGuide.com

I'm thinking of using one of these designs for the site - any preference?
        http://www.templatelite.com/postage-syd … ess-theme/
        http://www.templatelite.com/exotic-vaca … ss-themes/

I don't have much time to do anything more than post the feed, as I'm doing the 60 Day Challenge as well.   Maybe later, we'll get some ideas to do something more sophisticated - or someone else will step up with time to do it.

I think both are great and I love the site name. Go with whichever you like the best!

Question Do you think I should do a hub with Instructions for everyone wishing to join. I seem to be saying the same thing over and over again. Also it would get the conversation out of the forums but then maybe we will not attract so much attention which in this case could be harmful.

That is so nice of you, Marisa.  You are always so helpful and I, for one, appreciate it!  smile

I've been tinkering around with a hub or two on the Oregon coast, so I think I'll get cracking.  I will, of course link them together.

Thanks Ohma, for this grand idea.

Okay, I took it upon myself to do the Nebraska capstone:

    http://hubpages.com/hub/Nebraska-HubTra … l-and-Life

Let me know if this is the sort of thing you have in mind. If not, I can unpublish it and cannibalize it for a better one. smile

Do you think we should get a second tag specifically for capstone type hubs, like the 60dc-logs one you guys are using for the 60dc challenge?

    1. Marisa Wright profile image87
Marisa Wrightposted 14 years agoin reply to this

I think you need more than that, actually.  You probably need a hierarchy, e.g.

      - One tag for all Hubs (hubtrail)
      - One tag for countries (hubtrailcountry or just htc?)
      - One tag for states (hubtrailstate or hts?)

Not sure if you need a tag for city, if you're only allowing one person to write on each city.

Nice one, Kerry - I might have to shamelessy steal your layout idea for the Greece Hub big_smile The different tag could be good idea - It would also help Ohma to organise things.

Thanks Marisa - very kind of you to offer. I am pretty sure that if you and Ohma share ideas about a site, you will create something wonderful! I haven't looked at keywords yet and it is too late to start tonight! Nearly time to retire to my pit for the night smile

EDIT - the hierarchy is a great idea, although it might depend upon how many responses we get from the various parts of the world.

Glad you liked it, Sufi! The layout was actually inspired by those dance hubs Marisa's been doing, so I can't take credit for that. smile

I agree about the hierarchy. there's such a thing as too specific, especially if the location is a bit obscure and only worthy of one hub, but for the Nebraska hub, I'd be inclined to do something like:

      "hubtrail"
"hubtrail-capstone" ("hubtrail-guide?" what would be a more commonly searched keyword for something like a capstone hub?)
      "hubtrail-usa"
      "hubtrail-nebraska"

Whereas for something like New York City, you could probably get down into individual neighborhoods (i.e. hubtrail, hubtrail-usa, hubtrail-new york, hubtrail-new-york-city, hubtrail-manhattan) without worrying about having only one hub with the tag.

I have quite a few Texas hubs, so do I need to write a single hub now that references all the various hubs and then submit that one link?

    1. Ohma profile image60
Ohmaposted 14 years agoin reply to this

1)Put Hubtrail tag in each hub so that it gets into the feed.

      2) Write a capstone Hub for ________(insert your State or region) also include link to all of your subhubs in the capstone.

3)e-mail a link to the capstone to me.

We will have to go back and edit the capstone with links to the adjoining states once I have all the capstone links.

      4) follow this thread as thing are coming together quickly and Marisa, Sufidreamer, Sunforged or myself may need to include other instructions as things progress.

awesome...thanks!   That means I have a lot of work to do.

That is an awesome offer Marisa made!

Did anyone notice that we have 85 hubs in the RSS feed in just 4 days?

  10. Ohma profile image60
    Ohmaposted 14 years ago

Sunforged has offered to help with some kind of interactive map on a subdomain of his but like you he is busy with the 60dc also, and does not have much time to work on it. Maybe the 2 of you could get together after the 60dc and do something.
Frankly the large participation has really amazed me but I think putting of the external site until you and SF can get together on it would give me some more time to get the capstones together and organized. If you think it not wise to wait then I will gladly do whatever you suggest.
I like the idea if a separate tag for the capstones.
I have not really done a lot of keyword research but the whole project started basically to spotlight lesser known attractions and would very much like to continue in that direction, so I guess that is what we need to target keywords for right?

    1. Marisa Wright profile image87
Marisa Wrightposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Eventually it would be good to do a more organized external site, but it will only take me an hour or so to get the site up and start importing the feed - after that it will do the work itself.  It may not be pretty but it will get the links out there, and the sooner the better for that!

then by all means do what you know is best Let me know if you need anything from me.
I am so grateful for the help I just do not have enough words to say thank-you. I am sure that every hubber who is participating will share my sentiment. You are truly very kind.

Ohma you are off and running with this! It really is great to see everyone coming together! What a fantastic idea! Maybe we can figure out a way to get more hubbers involved. I will look in travel and see what I can find.

Ohma, personally I think a hub is a great idea.  It makes it easier for everyone to have all the information and updates in one place.  I think it's a good idea to not bombard the forums with HubTrail posts.  If you have time to write the hub, then it would be useful for all.

    Thanks again for everything.
