I tried to verify my hubpages on Pinterest and I couldn't. This is what I got when I tried to verify-Your server responded with a status code of 404 (file not found). We tried to visit http://moonlake.hubpages0com/pinterest-9e075.html.

To verify your site on Pinterest, you have to be able to upload the code they give you directly to your site.

This would be something we would have to handle on our end (make it possible for Hubbers to add that code to their subdomains- IF it is possible to do that on a subdomain level).

We'll look into that. Glad you brought this up! smile

Just had the same result as Moonlake sad
We can add our Google Author code so I can't see it being too hard to add another box in our Profile> Links section:)

We'll be waiting to see what HP can do on this one.  So great Simone that you keep your eye on forums and discussions!

That would be an exciting benefit, to add our ability to track our web analytics, individually. I still have to add the required code into my own personal websites, but it is required in order to use that feature on Pinterest. I just finished an article on this subject on Textbroker today.

Thank you for bringing the subject up. This would be a wonderful boost and would allow us to depend a little less on the ever changing Google experiences. My vote is for adding the Pinterest web analytics!

As far as I know, you can only verify your self hosted domains on Pinterest.

Is the address/link correct. I seems a little funny to me:    http://moonlake.hubpages0com/pinterest-9e075.html.
You have a "zero" "0" between hubpages and com. Should that be there?
When I tried my links everything worked OK.

I don't think we're going to be able to verify our accounts without Hubpages help!

I've heard that Pinterest is a risky site vis-a-vis protecting your copyright...that they have a policy (not exact words, but general idea), that if you post it there, it's available for the taking for anyone who wants to use/copy/distribute it.

I won't use the site, and I have "pinning" disabled for my hubs.

Have you ever read the Pinterest Terms of Service, or that of any other social media company...?

      From Pinterest TOS:

"You grant Pinterest and its users a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable, worldwide license to use, store, display, reproduce, re-pin, modify, create derivative works, perform, and distribute your User Content on Pinterest solely for the purposes of operating, developing, providing, and using the Pinterest Products."

Notice the part at the end? "Solely for the purposes of..." It's a very restrictive license that allows one thing to happen: for Pinterest to operate. You can't use this license to take anything off the site and re-use it for any other reason.

A similar clause is involved in every major social media or sharing network (Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube). In fact, the Pinterest ToS is more specific than others, like Facebook.

      From Facebook:

"For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos (IP content), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy and application settings: you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook (IP License). This IP License ends when you delete your IP content or your account unless your content has been shared with others, and they have not deleted it."

Here there are no limits at all to how Facebook can use your image.

Bottom line: There's nothing unique about the Pinterest ToS. And if you want to strictly preserve your archaic copyright, then don't share anything on any social media site.

I could not load the page.  I use Pinterest for inspiration and entertainment.  It does not generate income for the writer at this time, and I doubt very much that they will protect your work if you decide to "share" or "promote."  I enjoy the site because of its creativity, but I would not post my writing or photographs here.
