The new design is good but it could be improved with larger text for the article and a clearer font that is easier to read.
These sites have a similar layout but with better text (not an exhaustive list)
http://www.pcworld.com/article/2857736/ … quiet.html
http://www.smh.com.au/business/the-econ … 249hv.html
http://techcrunch.com/2014/12/10/google … -and-more/
Also there is a lot of wasted white space between the two columns (text and ads). The text could easily run further to the right. The font used could be improved.
I agree janderson. What those 3 sites you've cited also have is one or more horizontal lines (dividers) at the top of the articles to give them a more ordered, professional look. The new HP layout looks too chaotic and disordered; as if the title, profile box, author attribution, and text have all been stuck on the page in seemingly random positions.
How peculiar, I'm getting a message that no one has posted in this thread for two months!
Anyhow, I see what you mean. Even the SMH link, which has fairly small text, has a clearer font.
I am seeing strange things also in the forums tonight. I just visited one thread only 40 hours old with the last post two hours ago and it is "closed to reply." Not sure how that happened there. I am showing on this thread that "0" have responded, yet you are "1" and "1" should be reflected.

I am an old one. Small font hurts my eyes. This is perfect for me. I got dry eyes. Why they call it that when actually they are too much wet, can only imagine, maybe to sell wet solution pharmaceuticals for dry,of which I don't use. I don't trust them especially with eyeness.

Currently we only have blue and grey for the background of text and amazon boxes. I'm sure people would appreciate a larger range! I have one hub in particular that could benefit from a soft red background on some text boxes.

I have written all my hubs with my font size set to 22 and wonder now that with a more normal size they will not have the neat appearance that I designed into them. Can I get a few opinions on the appearance of this hub, along with the font size you are using on your browser? I realize that...

I have noticed that certain hubs have different fonts. Is it my browser problem? Or is it reserved for certain Hubs only? Check this with other Hubs.(not the title, but the text content!)Noticeable difference in TypefaceYou can see the difference in the text part and the link part itself! And there...

Heads up, Hubbers! The new design we announced yesterday on our blog is now live on Hubs within the Technology Topic. Check it out!Keep in mind that this is all part of a test and is going to be actively tweaked. Before we roll out anything site-wide, we want to make sure it's the best design...

This would be useful for any text/formulas that includes superscripts, subscripts, the 1/2 and 1/4 symbols etc to make it more legible.
