Shakespeare credited good health and a pleasant face to drinking small beer in one of his plays.
In his time, small beer was used as a breakfast drink, and most homes brewed their own.
The Pilgrim Fathers on their way to the New World (s well as the mothers and children) drank it, as it was more healthful than stale, polluted or contaminated water. Cheeers!
You could have written a hub on the subject-- though it might already have been done a few times.
Beer now and again shouldn't be a problem.
All things in moderation!
Children were given whisky in hospitals due to it being the only ready source of clean water.
PART of the diet?
He also said of alcohol that it "provokes the desire but takes away the performance".
Someone had ED...
Supposidly one dark beer a night evokes the same, or similar, health benefits as one glass of red wine a night.

Interestingly, studies have shown a "J" curve when it comes to alcohol consumption and health. Those who don't consume alcohol at all have slightly lower health levels compared to those who consume a moderate amount, say 1-2 glasses of beer (or other alcoholic drink) a day. Then the health benefits decline with increased consumption. So a little a day looks to be quite a good thing!

At the risk of transforming this into a religious debate I dare say :
God I love beer.
Small beer, big beer, all beers.
And my health is heavily good.
hehehe
As a Canadian I must insist beer be a large part of your 3 meals a day

My neighbor sometime skips breakfast and takes a bottle of beer instead.
Ok this might be where some of the crazy shows, but here goes.
several yrs ago I wanted to lose weight but didn't want to give up my beers, so I went on a beer and salad diet. I did this for about six or eight months...did I lose weight? NOOOOO..(tho I didn't gain any either so it was a wash)
