Yes I'm back.  I know you probably didn't notice I'd gone.  I have a relatively low profile here.  No I didn't go because of a falling out on the forums but because of my day job that really slows down my hub activity.

I was working in Capetown for a couple of weeks with very limited web access.  I'd love to multiply my hub activities by a factor of 10 but just don't have time.  Do other hubbers share the same frustration?

The great thing about Hubbing is the cash keeps rolling in whether you are active or not.  It was reassuring, while waiting for my flight back to London, to check my earnings and find the modest amounts of cash still rolling in.

I really like Capetown and the Cape of Good Hope - I was working in the dockyard at Simons Town.  One day I'll write a hub about it.  The scenary is amazing, the resturants fantastic and the penguins at Bolders Beach taste really good (I didn't really eat penguin, honest).

MM - Thanks for your welcome. It was my first time in the Southern Hemisphere.  One day I hope to visit your home country of Australia.  Where I come from (UK) if you're buying a house you look for a south facing garden.  Interesting that in the SH its north facing.  Also the night sky is totally different (and don't get me onto the subject of which way the water goes down the plug hole!) smile

HealthTip - Yes I miss your pirate personna and your alter ego Cabin Girl but glad you are still here!

Correction - I see Cabin Girl is back - excellent - I'd certainly like her on board my modest vessel!

Rick for crying out loud, what do you mean by using your job as an excuse for not hubbing more...you can't tell me you need a pay check for frivolities like food and mortgage payments... that is just inconceivable.

Glad you're back, the parties around here are not the same without you.

Welcome back..and yes, my day job takes a lot out of me.

I spend 9+ hours on a computer at work, yet still feel the need to come home and jump right back into Hubpages.

It's become an addiction..one that I wish I had more time to indulge in.

Jane - Yes I really fell in love with the Cape.  Not  as much as a colleague of mine who had a baboon in his room - as you can imagine we didn't let him forget it - we are threatening to tell his wife!
Zuzsy - You are very kind!
Wendi - Yes my day job involves too much time on a computer, writing.  The reason I still love hubs is you write what YOU like when you like rather than for someone else to a deadline.  My ambition is to earn more online when I finally retire from full-time work!

Rik Ravado - I would have thought you've gone there in preparation for the world cup. Welcome back.

HealthTip – It’s you who used to be Badcompany? You look very serious in this one. GoodHope.

Decided to try and make a few dollars, although humor got more reads it didn't make money. Although I do still try to slip my humor into health, kinda make you die laughing smile

Yes it is a really big thing out there - the stadium in CapeTown is well on the way to being built - got some pictures of it.

Good to meet you Rik.  I'm afraid a day job would stop my hubbing completely.  I retired from the Air Force in Dec 08 and planned to take a year off for health and writing.  While on active duty, between seeing patients and all the review and documentation that went with it, I was working 10 to 15 hours a day.  Didn't really feel like doing anything else.  I'm about at the end of my money.  Hoping to work only part-time.  Actually hoping my hubbing will help establish my professional reputation outside of the AF, and help me get consulting gigs.

rmcrayne - welcome to HubPages.  Nice to meet you! My advice on earning is to be patient. After about 5 months my earning dropped to nearly zero but I find now my traffic and earnings are steadily increasing whether I publish new hubs or not.  A lot of people here seem to give up before their earnings really take off.  The key thing is to experiment and see what works and what doesn't.  Good luck!

Welcome back Rik.  I spent a magical holiday driving from Swaziland, across the Karoo to Cape Town then back again along the Garden Route.  I didn't get to spend as much time at the Cape as I would like.  I'm sure you enjoyed a few of the local wines....

That's my experience too, Rik.  I wrote about 60 Hubs fairly early on, then had quite a long break when I started my own websites - but my earnings kept on going up.
