Well according to many of the pundits Windows 7 - however, if XP is working fine on your home PC and you don't 'care' for the added security and 'cooler' look of Windows 7 then there's really no need to upgrade!

I don't think you'll be able to get a new PC with XP soon.....Windows 7 isn't that different from XP - I believe you can set it in 'classic' mode which even looks like XP anyway.

Ummm..OK they took out classic mode in Windows 7 - but if you search the web, there are ways to make it look like the 'classic bar'! From my experience though, you'll get used to the new 'bar' eventually - there are some really cool features!

If you're using XP and you're thinking about upgrading, my advice would be "Don't bother."  If your current computer is working fine, then don't fix what ain't broken!

Eventually you will have to buy a new computer, and it will have Windows 7, and there ya go. Until then, don't shell out the cash just to upgrade your OS.

I just bought a laptop with windows 7 on it and I love it.  It is fast and secure.  My old comp has Vista home premium on it and that was pretty good too, but I do like my 7 better.

You are the only person that I've seen Compliment that program.
If you post a copy of your endorsement to Microsoft.. They'll potentially offer you an executive position smile

Smart repartee there.  I've suffered through vista and it took microsoft months to come up with fixes.

I am running XP / Vista and 7 (on 2 desktops and 1 laptop) and can you guess which O/S crashes/hangs the most?

Yes, Windows Vista! I am very surprised with Windows 7 in terms of it's ability to become a worthy sucessor to Windows XP. It has a different feel to it but after a few weeks using it, you will wish that you had the same freedom with XP as you enjoy with 7.

Another plus is that Windows 7 also has native XP application support which should help minimise the cost of software upgrades.

I am envious of MAC users though because I bought an iMac back in 2005 and I have never updated the O/S or any software on it and yet if I switch it on today there won't be any problems when I try to connect to the net or do anything else on it. It doesn't even have anti-virus software yet runs like a dream.. I just could never get used to the single button mouse!

I'm running XP on 2 and Vista business on one PC No problems at all on either (knock on wood)! No need to upgrade yet, let them get the bugs out, although I hear Windows 7 is running great so far, good reviews. smile

To put it simply, I believe Windows 7 is a much faster, more user-friendly, more visualistic, operating system than Windows XP. Why would Windows make something worse for their next generaton of operating systems? I do, however, believe that Vista was a step down from XP, but Windows 7 will make up for that.
