As general rule, if we get asked "Who are you?", we give our name, or our profession. But...
As an exercise, suppose you can't use your name (real name)
NOR what you do, (as in job or profession), how would you answer the question?
Curious...

You should have a chat with my old man, he lives on your planet too!
He speaks very highly of you
but he is forbdden from ever revealing where he disappears to when you are asleep.
LOL, yep def. from the same planet. And I thought there could only be one.

The above is a message to your old man.
He will know what it means but do not ask him.
It was meant to be a serious question.
Can we do that? Or is that too hard for some?
I am a mother, a sister, a wife, a grandmother, a friend, a writer, a horticulturist and carer of domesticated small farm animals. I am also a dreamer!
I am multi talented
and I can't resist a bit of humor
as I have multiple personalities!
I am known as the most colorful character in my neighborhood. 'nuff said?
I'm a woman (that one comes to mind first, I guess), someone who values being a nice person (and wishes the world realized that "nice" doesn't equal "too stupid to know better than to be nice"), and I write in my spare time (I guess even if I don't mention profession, the spare-time part is allowed?). My three children are grown. I'm a "very sociable introvert" (there are such things), a neat-nik, a sensible person who loves being silly and laughing; and, as far as I know, healthy (knock on wood). I'm someone who is more comfortable sharing what I am, as a person, on the Internet than things like too much demographic info (don't want more junk mail) or info about the people in my life.
I'm someone who enjoys trying to get other people to participate in this kind of "exercise type of thing" by trying to "get some things going", so I'll add.. I'm more Shirley than Laverne, more Mary Ann than Ginger (OK, I've lost the interest of a lot of guys at this point, I know ), more Mary than either Rhoda or Phylis (and now I've lost a lot of women and cool people of all ages and both sexes too
). I'm most of the characters in the Peanuts comic strip, except for Lucy, Peppermint Patty, or Pigpen (or course). At times I'm even that squawk voice they do on the Charlie Brown specials when making adults/parents speak.
Much to my own, and a lot of other people's, dismay, I have way too much to say and seem to need to say it all (more if I'm writing what I'm saying than speaking it - but not all that much more
). In a world that too often believes that silence is golden, and that "strong, silent, types" are to be admired; I tend to live with the lyrics to the song, "Sound of Silence," running in the back of my mind (and sometimes with the words to the song, "I Am What I Am" in my mind - even it that song wasn't intended to be about straight women and mothers-of-three - and I go ahead and say/write whatever I feel like saying/writing. (How's that aka-dj? It's not at all hard for me to inflict my ponderings about who I am on everyone else.
)
I am a thinker rather than a scholar. I read and write, but my aim is to know. I am a dreamer who makes dreams come true. I experiment, but experimentation is not my goal. I am different, but my aim is not to differ. It is to find the truth. My true calling, my true self, my true place in the universe.
You also inspire others, whether that is your intention or not! I am always drawn right into your hubs.
Oh, and me? I'm a lazy, indolent soul who gets away with making the bare minimum engaging.
I'm very honest and upfront with everyone. I tell it like it is. Some people find this more than a bit disconcerting. Well..get over it.
I'm very independant..a quiet rebel, you might say. I'm definitely not a follower..I go my own way, always have. Also a bit shy, or 'timorous', but always willing to talk to anyone who is reasonably open-minded and friendly. If not...see the last paragraph below.
I enjoy encouraging people to follow their dreams...anything is possible if you really have a passion for it...and never take 'no' for an answer.
I also enjoy poking fun at pretense and rigid rules and regulations. In other words I like teasing such people, or harmlessly stirring things up a bit when necessary. Some peeps just take things way too seriously. Come on...lighten up...laugh already
Wow, lol, if it weren't for the last paragraph I'd have thought you were describing me! (in a bit of a minor way, anyway )
I'm a thinker who sometimes thinks she thinks too much and thinks she should learn how to stop thinking but then realizes she wouldn't be herself if she did, so she keeps right on thinking no matter what.
I am who I am by the grace of God, I am a honest, grateful, happy person. I have had my share of good and bad but I make the choice to only focus on the good and keep doing good. I chose to be do my best and leave the rest to God. That is me.
Boy Rafini-I thought you were in my head there for a minute! I am a notorious overthinker, my family and friends will attest to that. I admit it gets in my way when writing, for instance, because I am a ruthless self-editor.
I'm also a serious, somewhat melancholy woman, but I have sarcasm and wit in the blood!
..and lorlie, don't forget to now add that you're a grandmother of a sweetie-pie baby boy.
I don't often find too many people who think like I do. Now, on this thread, I've found at least two!! Why can't we ever take a break from thinking? lol
What a great thread. OK, here goes:
I am a problem solver and (like Aya) I'm a thinker rather than a scholar.
I have a very dry sense of humour which is not to everyone's taste. (Favourite cartoon: Dilbert.)
Everything I attempt, I generally try to do as well as possible.
I believe that respect has to be earned.
I am a cat person (surprise, surprise ).
I am an introvert. I like being with people but only for a certain period of time, after which I need to be alone to get my head straight.
I am unadventurous - I like home comforts, good food, nice wine, comfortable and well made clothing, and gardening. You will never find me bungee jumping off a tall building, kayaking, climbing mountains or going anywhere on holiday without indoor plumbing.
That's a hard question to answer with all those conditions following.
I am still thinking...umm, a daughter of the best parents or a sister of the best brother.I can't think of anything else.
Uma07, it's not my business (what you can think of), but I think of how when my eldest son was in third or fourth grade, and the assignment was for them to write about themselves. My son wrote about how he had "the best parents", and I said, "...but you were supposed to write about YOU." He said, "I couldn't think of anything." He was a kid who had some learning problems in school that had taken on a toll on him); so while I was glad he was an "appreciator of other people" in his life, I felt really bad to think he couldn't think up anything to say about him - not the people he cared about.
Again, I know it's not my business; and whether you post anything on this silly thread is your own business. I just thought, though, that maybe the "matter", as seen from a mother's point-of-view (and, from what I've been told by that son, at least back then when he was little, "best mother in the world's point-of-view "rolleyes" may be worth commenting on
(For anyone else who can't think up anything, there's always falling back on television and well fairy tales.
Monica, Phoeba, Rachel, Ross, Chandler, or Joey? Frasier and Niles or Martin Cinderella or the the mean step-sisters? Snow White? One, or all of the Seven Dwarfs? The mean queen? Brie, Susan, Edie, Katherine, Lynette, or Gabriele? Belle/Beast, Belle/Arielle/, Leonard, Sheldon, or Penny... The "resources" are endless. )
Lisa HW,
First: Congratulations for getting the best mom award from your son who thought of you when he couldn't think of anything else. That's a huge compliment for you. That came from his heart and not many grown-ups can think of their parents when the question comes out of the blue.
Second:Not in my wildest dreams did I think of returning to this thread after posting the reply. The question was simple and so was my answer. It is not writing something about you but WHO ARE YOU?If I were asked to write about myself, I have things to say that would run into pages. :)From learning to knit at the age of three to being a badminton player to being a topper in the college...a lot of things could be said.
Third: As for the thread being silly,I felt it a was cool breeze amidst those heavy religious and politics threads. Well, to each his own.
I just wanted to add our culture differs completely from yours. It not like, "This is America...As soon as your kids turn sixteen they are gone" ...this is a quote from a movie. We value our traditions and still believe in a close knit family. This is getting Off Topic...I'd rather stop.
Knowledge and thrill seeker, interested in all things, tongue not as forked as some may think!
I am the person who generally believes that if a person must use their profession to identify themselves, that may actually be quite sad. If how you make money is how you identify, then I don't know about you!
Alright, so, if I were to tell someone who I am without sharing my name or profession...
I am the dork who sings while cleaning, as long as no one can hear me.
You go right ahead and sing if it makes you happy and Sunny. Don't be so self-conscious.
I can hear you sing all the way "Down Under".
LOL you two are too cute. Thanks, y'all.
I am dreamer. A silly dream who believe everybody is good person until his/her proven themselves as bad one. I believe on second change and put so much hope that someday the word can be better place for everyone.
I am a thinker (but it seem everyone is a thinker here) but a slow learner. It took too long for me to be able to find myself and what I want, but once I got it in my mind, I am unstopable and undestrucable.
I am family person and enjoy taking care others.
I am like broken pipe, easy to cry and love to laugh.
Hmmm... I hope that is enough answer.

I've just been to another farewell hub and it's sad. I just want to let all my friends who have decided to linger know that I'm still here. Though lately I've been nowhere in sight, I promise to not go away - even if somebody tries to make me.So, are you still here?

How does my unpublished hub have 2 page views?I'm freaking out! I'm not ready to publish it, I need to edit, and I'm not even 100% sure I want to make it a hub! Who looked at it?

I made a big decision recently, and that was to undertake some further studies. I got a first class honours in Property, and thought long and hard about pursing a Masters degree in a Real Estate related area. Ultimately, I wasn't too interested.I made a big decision recently, and that was to apply...

I'm just curious...what do you do for a living? What is your profession? Your day job? I'm a program manager for wastewater, so writing hubs that have nothing to do with my job is very refreshing
