As general rule, if we get asked "Who are you?", we give our name, or our profession. But...
As an exercise, suppose you can't use your name (real name)
NOR what you do, (as in job or profession), how would you answer the question?
    Curious...big_smile

I'm a woman (that one comes to mind first, I guess), someone who values being a nice person (and wishes the world realized that "nice" doesn't equal "too stupid to know better than to be nice"), and I write in my spare time (I guess even if I don't mention profession, the spare-time part is allowed?).  My three children are grown.  I'm a "very sociable introvert" (there are such things), a neat-nik, a sensible person who loves being silly and laughing; and, as far as I know, healthy (knock on wood).  I'm someone who is more comfortable sharing what I am, as a person, on the Internet than things like too much demographic info (don't want more junk mail) or info about the people in my life.

I'm someone who enjoys trying to get other people to participate in this kind of "exercise type of thing" by trying to "get some things going", so I'll add..   I'm more Shirley than Laverne, more Mary Ann than Ginger (OK, I've lost the interest of a lot of guys at this point, I know  lol), more Mary than either Rhoda or Phylis (and now I've lost a lot of women and cool people of all ages and both sexes too   lol).  I'm most of the characters in the Peanuts comic strip, except for Lucy, Peppermint Patty, or Pigpen (or course).  At times I'm even that squawk voice they do on the Charlie Brown specials when making adults/parents speak.  hmm

Much to my own, and a lot of other people's, dismay, I have way too much to say and seem to need to say it all  roll (more if I'm writing what I'm saying than speaking it - but not all that much more  hmm  ).  In a world that too often believes that silence is golden, and that "strong, silent, types" are to be admired; I tend to live with the lyrics to the song, "Sound of Silence," running in the back of my mind (and sometimes with the words to the song, "I Am What I Am" in my mind - even it that song wasn't intended to be about straight women and mothers-of-three - and I go ahead and say/write whatever I feel like saying/writing.   (How's that aka-dj?  It's not at all hard for me to inflict my ponderings about who I am on everyone else.  lol  )

I am different, but my aim is not to differ. It is to find the truth. My true calling, my true self, my true place in the universe.

I'm very honest and upfront with everyone.  I tell it like it is.  Some people find this more than a bit disconcerting.  Well..get over it.

I'm very independant..a quiet rebel, you might say.  I'm definitely not a follower..I go my own way, always have.  Also a bit shy, or 'timorous', but always willing to talk to anyone who is reasonably open-minded and friendly.  If not...see the last paragraph below.

I enjoy encouraging people to follow their dreams...anything is possible if you really have a passion for it...and never take 'no' for an answer.

I also enjoy poking fun at pretense and rigid rules and regulations.  In other words I like teasing such people, or harmlessly stirring things up a bit when necessary.  Some peeps just take things way too seriously.  Come on...lighten up...laugh already lol lol lol

What a great thread.  OK, here goes:

I am a problem solver and (like Aya) I'm a thinker rather than a scholar.

I have a very dry sense of humour which is not to everyone's taste.  (Favourite cartoon: Dilbert.)

Everything I attempt, I generally try to do as well as possible.

I believe that respect has to be earned.

I am a cat person (surprise, surprise lol).

I am an introvert.  I like being with people but only for a certain period of time, after which I need to be alone to get my head straight.

I am unadventurous - I like home comforts, good food, nice wine, comfortable and well made clothing, and gardening.  You will never find me bungee jumping off a tall building, kayaking, climbing mountains or going anywhere on holiday without indoor plumbing.

Uma07, it's not my business (what you can think of), but I think of how when my eldest son was in third or fourth grade, and the assignment was for them to write about themselves.  My son wrote about how he had "the best parents", and I said, "...but you were supposed to write about YOU."  He said, "I couldn't think of anything."    He was a kid who had some learning problems in school that had taken on a toll on him); so while I was glad he was an "appreciator of other people" in his life, I felt really bad to think he couldn't think up anything to say about him - not the people he cared about.

Again, I know it's not my business; and whether you post anything on this silly thread is your own business.  I just thought, though, that maybe the "matter", as seen from a mother's point-of-view (and, from what I've been told by that son, at least back then when he was little, "best mother in the world's point-of-view    "rolleyes"   smile  may be worth commenting on

(For anyone else who can't think up anything, there's always falling back on television and well fairy tales.  lol

Monica, Phoeba, Rachel, Ross, Chandler, or Joey?  Frasier and Niles or Martin  Cinderella or the the mean step-sisters?  Snow White?  One, or all of the Seven Dwarfs?  The mean queen?  Brie, Susan, Edie, Katherine, Lynette, or Gabriele?  Belle/Beast, Belle/Arielle/,  Leonard, Sheldon, or Penny...    The "resources" are endless.   lol  )

        Lisa HW,
First: Congratulations for getting the best mom award from your son who thought of you when he couldn't think of anything else. That's a huge compliment for you. That came from his heart and not many grown-ups can think of their parents when the question comes out of the blue.

Second:Not in my wildest dreams did I think of returning to this thread after posting the reply. The question was simple and so was my answer. It is not writing something about you but WHO ARE YOU?If I were asked to write about myself, I have things to say that would run into pages. :)From learning to knit at the age of three to being a badminton player to being a topper in the college...a lot of things could be said. smile

Third: As for the thread being silly,I felt it a was cool breeze amidst those heavy religious and politics threads. Well, to each his own.

I just wanted to add our culture differs completely from yours. It not like, "This is America...As soon as your kids turn sixteen they are gone" ...this is a quote from a movie. We value our traditions and still believe in a close knit family. This is getting Off Topic...I'd rather stop. smile

I am dreamer. A silly dream who believe everybody is good person until his/her proven themselves as bad one. I believe on second change and put so much hope that someday the word can be better place for everyone.

I am a thinker (but it seem everyone is a thinker here) but a slow learner. It took too long for me to be able to find myself and what I want, but once I got it in my mind, I am unstopable and undestrucable.

I am family person and enjoy taking care others.
