   DO you think it is right to post your own art on Hubpages or should you celebrate other peoples work?
   I have posted my own and a few of Picasso's pieces.

      I think you should totally post your own art. I do it all the time. There are nine million places people can see the work of the famous and even semi-famous artists. None of those artists tell us anything about you. Only your art will.
      
      That's not to say that if you discover some really cool artist, you shouldn't share it, but I would argue your own work is more valuable to those of us who, through HubPages, have a chance to share a tiny slice of life with you.

      You should be proud in your own work. If you want to share it, then share it! Let other people know how great you are as an artist. In fact, talent is a gift that you must not hide, it is something that you must share. Just show it, after all, there's nothing wrong with it, because it's your own.

   I frequently post my own artwork on HubPages and other sites, and see nothing wrong with it.  I think this is a great venue for showing our working and analyzing it to improve.

      You might want to write about your artwork. What inspired a particular piece, what techniques and media etc-- Making it instructional would be a great way to show your work.

         Bear in mind that publishing your artwork here, or anywhere else online, leaves it open to plagiarism.  There's no way to prevent it, so the best thing is not to give away too many pieces. 
         
         Rochelle's idea enables you to write a whole Hub about just one or two pieces, which will entice people to contact you to see more - and hopefully buy!

   I thought it may bore people if I posted a couple of pieces with text on how and why. I may give this a go now though. I am still learning about art and techniques at present, I still have vast amounts of knowledge to soak up. Most of my work at present is done because it fits in with my brief rather than what I really want to create. I'm not sure what the future holds for me art wise, but I saw Hub pages as a great way of gaining some exposure. If people feel the need to recreate or steel an idea of mine, fair play to them, artists have done this for hundreds of years and I guess it will go on for many more. I must say I would be flattered by this. Thank you for taking the time to comment on this topic and I will keep your ideas in mind.

      Bear in mind that you only ever get a handful of readers from within the HubPages community. To get real exposure, you need to get the attention of the search engines.
      
      No one is going to be typing "Ian Hudson artwork" into Google, so you're not going to attract much attention that way.  The way to attract search engine traffic is to answer questions people have, or solve a problem for them - and people will be typing in questions about art techniques.  Sneaky, eh?
