Good morning fellow hub pages millionaires (to be) I have been working on my site for the hubpages blueprint and decided we needed a HubCabulary page to explain ALL of the hubpages, seo, and adsense techie terms out there than new people to this industry would get a big fat question mark on there head when hearing.
Can I talk you guys into posting all the possible terms you know so I can add them. If you'd like to throw down your own definition to the term I would gladly give you a mention on the site (with a linkback to your profile to boot! free link juice!). If two or more people leave defintions I'll leave a link like "Thank you __author1, __author2,__author3, for this definition contributtion" etc..
I want to build a complete page of vocabulary terms, words, sentences, etc.. I'll start to give you an Idea of what I need:
SEO = Search Engine Optomisation; SEO is the art of building a website or webpage so that search engine spiders crawl it and can easily assess the pages content value and format, on page seo deals with the actual page and off page seo deals with backlinks, link popularity and so on (then I'd go on to define it hyperlinking all terms in this definition to the definition on the page for that term i.e. backlinks in this would be a hyperlink to the definition below for backlinks)
On Page optomisation
Off Page Optomisation
Backlinks, linkbacks
hub
capsule
etc...
List off as many as you can please!!! I need a complete list of all terms used on hubpages (and through strategies we use like digg, stumble upon, etc.. is also a term
I guess people only reply when theres something in it for them... sigh...
not one person will endulge me??????????????????????????????????????????????????????? you people suck!
Hubnoramus: A person who doesn't know anything about how this stuff works.
SEOmgWTF: Reaction people have when they find out what they have to do to actually get traffic.
Twitter: What happens to my eye when people start talking about techniques and stuff for backlinking and SEO.
Stumbleupon: Internet sharing site that hopefully will eventually lead to Staggerupon, which is going to be far better for people who drink and don't like figuring out how all this crap works.
Search Engine: ...search the trunk, search in the front seat and back, it don't really matter where you search, you ain't gonna find the answers how to make money online in your car.
Backlink: the other side of a frontlink which nobody knows how to do either.
I hope this helps Jerrico. Best I can do.
that was awesome! hehe even in kidding you put up 4 actual Hubcabulary words *wink*
Shades forgot a few
capsule: pharmaceutical sleeping aid
RSS: warning sound of a rattlesnake
backlink: bra fastening device
tags: tiny instructions in clothing that give laundry instruction
adsense: nonsense related to ads
forum: What you are if yer not against em
hubapotimus: humongous hub animal
ROFL... awesome. (And your backlink is so much better than mine. I couldn't think of one at all.)
Now were cooking! these are great! I think I may just use them along with the read definition to bring humor to the site! Also this would be a great way to show potential authors the humor here on Hubpages... anymore? more more... keep them coming!
Hubtivity (fr. captivity): Euphemism for Hub addiction.
Social Bookmarking: Healthy hubbing activity. The hubtivated claim that's all they're doing.
Long Tailed Keywords: 1. Birdwatcher's delight, a dodo-like bird believed to be extinct until the first documented modern sightings in 1972. 2. Euphemism for, well, you know ...
Seriously, though ... if the "Help" files don't help, Darkside's Hubs contain a lot of information.
I lol'ed
And I HATE hublic enemies... number 1 through 1,000,000. (good 1 Jen)
This is a great one, very seriousely funny keep them coming guys!
@ Shadesbreath + Rochelle Frank - FOFL, god you guys crack me up!
Jerrico man, I found out some pretty useful stuff on http://seotipstricksandmore.wordpress.com/ if it'll help you out. (please note, I'm not connected to that blog in anyway)
Hublic Service: providing information about how to Hub free of charge
Hublic Enemy #1: see Spammer
Nice, I'll use that one "Hublic service"
I'm thinking that I'll build the hubcabulary with two definitions one real one pun so keep the puns coming
Hubsomnia - Sleeping disorder caused by staying up till the wee hours of the morning to finish hubs.
Timing the Market - Waiting to post completed Hubs until it will give you the highest score.
I love it! Hubsomnia! I started another thread just for puns like these, please contribute.. I'm so going to add these to the site as "alternative" definitions for fun because were all about fun aren't we?
Another one—I couldn't resist
Hub Millionaires -- 1. Paul Edmondson. 2. Fictional creatures, just as elusive and eagerly sought after as snipes.
I don't think they are millionaires personally (although the company probably produces more than 8 million a year)...
Hubberis- excessive pride and conceit about one's hubs.
Hubsistence: the measly income my comedy hubs are earning
Hubjective argument: Any hubpage article that claims to have the "truth."
Hubordinate: 1: After reading my articles, people got sleepy and needed food; they got hubbordinate a sandwich or something (look for it, it's there if you give it time). 2: The condition of being lower in rank than Paul Deeds at the HubPages home office.
Hubprime Mortgage: A mortgage that isn't making any adsense money either
Hubscription: What you get when you become someone's fan and actually intend on reading what they write (this idea could be implemented, btw, to muddle through the whole "fan for friendly support vs. fan because I want to be notified when they write, btw.
Hubstitution: Using a second account or unregistered user name to post or respond to your own article or say stuff you don't want associated with your main identity on someone else's.
Hubstitute: Someone who makes money for writing naughty hubs or girly picture hubs.
Hubterfuge: Trying to get around hub rules, like pretending you have a real question on the forums so you can link your hub shamelessly.
Huburban housewife: Spryte, Gwendymom, Mistyhorizon.......etc.
*snort*
Hubsband - The neglected spouse of a Huburbun housewife.
this one could also be :
Hubs-band - Describing a group of hubbers posting consistently in the hub forum environment in way as to constitute a "pack" mentality
*innocent wide-eyed look*
You mean a group of hubbers that regularly read and comment on each other's stuff and sometimes do really stupid, silly, ridiculous things just because somebody else did some really stupid, silly, ridiculous thing and thereby clutter up an entire forum topic and generate mass amounts of interest in an otherwise pandering hub to vote for a rather ugly infant?
Nope...never seen one of those.
Damn, Spryte, what the hell are you rambling on about? That is the most random concept I've ever heard of. Where do you come up with this stuff?
Where the heck was I when this happened? You guys are always leaving me out.
Hubpoena - The legal document that will be required before I answer either of those questions.
And what do you mean by pandering? It wasn't about pandas, wearing rings or any other kinds. The whole thing is HUBRAGEOUS!
My Hubsband's HP ID is Hubbie. Why didn't any of your hubsbands think of it first? LOL!
I think the second definition for Hubsband is already in force. AKA HubMob.
Soooo loved this description, 'Huburban Housewife', must tell Hubby, the only breadwinner in our household right now, (still waiting for adsense to send me a cheque, hopefully before I starve!!!)
Hublagiarism: when a hubber is not creative or just plain lazy, and decides to copy numerous articles off other websites. The hubber usually did not write these, but he or so does not mind taking the credit for it . However, the hubbers who participate in Hublagiarism usually incur HubLow (low hub scores) for duplicate content.
A person who does this is called a Hubasshole.
Hubworm - one who evidently dives into hubs for information.
Hubspam - spam disguised as a hub.
Hubgeek - incredibly knowledgeable hubber.
Hubfreak - bohemian hubber.
HubPalling - Really terrible behaviour towards other hubbers.
For example, telling them that they suck because they don't respond to a forum post quickly enough
Eric you suck for that- er hehe just kidding brother.. in my defence, in my country, in my household, in my ... ran out of places... we say "you guys suck" as an everyday conversation, like dude, naw dude, ah you suck man, I'm afraid you took it wrong but I can see why (the thousand trailing question marks).. you guys call me sensitive?
I'm moving out of the forum though, you guys can go back to your normal "thing" I'll lurk once in a while, respond to a post maybe but I won't contribute any of my ideas, or money making juice.. its clear that money is not allowed here on hubpages, it may just stir up everything and make you guys react as if you were here to earn some.. the real currency your after is ego...
sigh.. you guys got me all negative now.. its going to take a month to deprogram this crap sigh...

What is on page SEO and how can it be done for hubs I write?I know well about off page seo, but little about on page seo, can my fellow hubbers please tell me about it? Is it just keyword spreading throughout the article or is it more than keywords.

Back-links are the main aspect of off-page SEO. There are several ways to get back-links. Social media, like posting your hubs to Facebook and Twitter, forum posting, and blog commenting are the most common. Just stay away from paid back-links, Google is cracking down on that finally. Then there is...

One thing that I've noticed in my traffic stats is that one particular hub about a particular acoustic guitar - seems to be doing better than other hubs about what I would think would be guitars that are more sought after. So I looked at the hub that is doing so well, and tried to figure out why...

I found this graph huge in original size @ http://crunchydata.com/content-sites.htmHubpages is #5 and is recommended to write for when published in Feb 2010 almost four years ago. Does anybody have any newer comparisons of revenue sharing quality that has quality writing?

Ok, so I want to pose a question about key words and I would like to have it discussed in my language. So... this question is for you SEO people and key word people. First, the set up:Ok, lets say I want to write an article on the proper use of the semicolon. (I'm an English geek,...
