We all know that good manners can help you get ahead in business, make friends, shop and travel in a pleasant manner, and have an easier time earning respect, but what about all the modern complications we deal with on a daily basis? Many of the etiquette guides we grew up with don’t address things like social media, smart phones, and fast-paced lifestyles.
How have you adapted your manners to match the demands of modern life? Let us know by sharing your modern etiquette tips as part of this week’s Weekly Topic Inspiration.
Here are some search-friendly titles to consider:

Here’s hoping today’s Hubs leave us all a bit more polished and polite! Goodness knows it’s easy to slip up these days @_@
Oh I might have a telephone one in the works...that one really drives me crazy, hehe.
Hahaa, you're certainly not alone! I hope you do it!
I had to write about how cell phone use sometimes drives me a little insane - from supermarkets to driving in the car.

I am already cooking a cell phone etiquette hub... How about manners to be a good house guest? Would that work?
That could work, sholland10
Just keep in mind that if you leave your Hub in the "courtesy in business" Topic, it should have a business slant to it. That said, you could always re-categorize!
This'll be a great one though. House guest etiquette is something I know *I* would like to brush up on.
Hmmm... I will have to put on my thinking cap to put a business slant on it. Some ideas are coming to mind. :-). Thanks!
Great food for thought. I have been giving thought to writing along the weekly inspiration recently. Good practice for freelance writing maybe. Writing assignment rather than inspriation only. I will give this topic some thought and work at coming up with something. Thanks
It is good practice for freelance writing indeed. I hope you'll be joining us
Whew! Done. Posted late on Thur night my first weekly topic hub is completed. Looking here http://tsmog.hubpages.com/hub/Bad-Etiqu … nners?done one will discover a discussion on both manners and etiquette and distinguishing between the two.
It was fun to write and I look forward to more weekly topics. I learned much from this hubpages challenge. I have some time to visit a few others posted here, so off I go.
Is it necessary to leave in place the original category that comes up when selecting "answer this question?"
I found that "business" came up, and I forget the sub-categories,but I thought that "Social Issues" was more relevant....
Feel free to re-categorize as you please, DzyMsLizzy! Most of the titles I researched fell under the "courtesy in business" umbrella, but for more general social themes, I agree that different topics would be better.
I had to go with the topic of etiquette for busy moms. As I was writing it, I realized I was so guilty of some bad mom manners myself! Here is the link:

Aren't we all, though! That makes us better equipped to learn from our mistakes and share those lessons with others. Your advice is fabulous!
Here is my attempt. I chose to go the humorous route. Hopefully, this will be useful to help re-store (Smartphone users) -manners to the work place

I spent 10 years working in male dominated professions in California law enforcement before retirement. It had to be the most rewarding job of my life, and I'm glad I took the chance to attend two academies.

Great hub Arlene! I love the photo of your badge - I can certainly see why it is your most-prized possession. Plus, I think that single photo adds so much credibility to the entire hub since it was clearly written by a woman in the know.
Thanks, k! If you set goals and work to complete them, life is so sweet.. I really had some doubts about passing that first academy. I was 34 at the time, and had all these kids around me who never held jobs in their lives. Plus, my neighbor committed suicide with a .38 on the morning I left for academy, so the incident played with my head. I flunked every range including use of the .38 until the very last day. If you want something bad enough, and you work hard, you will get what you want. Jeez! TMI! I lived a soap back then!
Ooooh, SUCH good advice here. And your approach to the topic is fabulous!
Thank you, Simone! I am so flattered by the comments I've been getting that I will treat myself to a breakfast of chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy! I may even take hubby along! Yeah, I know. Rewarding yourself with food is not a good thing . . .
Hmm, I've missed out on WTI the past few weeks, but I'm determined to whip up an article this time. Playing around with ideas for internet and dog-owner etiquette.
Oooh- I think that's a GREAT niche within this theme!
Doggone it--my entry for this topic will be past the end of the week; we'll be into a new topic.
We are dealing with the after effects of a power-surge, and my computer is in the shop for diagnostic testing....this backup machine doesn't have my drafts or my notes, so all I have is what I already pasted into capsules....and as sure as I 'make it up as I go along,' I'll later on find that I missed something important from my notes!
I really, really do have a love/hate relationship with computers.
Yikes! Here's hoping all the computer troubles are resolved soon @_@
Yay - I was able to finish a WTI hub this week! Great topic, and I wrote this hub on professional etiquette in the workplace based on many of my own pet peeves:
http://stephhicks68.hubpages.com/hub/Bu … fessionals
This is packed with so much helpful information. Interviews were never my thing because I didn't work on selling myself.
Yeah, I'm loving this! I like how you've broken the Hub down by themes- from trying to get a job to behaving well in meetings and the workplace.
I wrote a Hub today about children using manners. How I taught my kids to use them and how wonderful it is to be out or with friends and my kids being so polite. Manners are a must in my opinon. Hope you enjoy my Hub!
http://cassylu1981.hubpages.com/hub/Chi … ir-Manners
Thanks again for a wonderful topic to write about I enjoy doing these!
Yay! I'm glad that you've made manners an important thing in your family, CassyLu1981! Lovely Hub.
I appreciate parents who teach their children manners. I am Auntie Arlene, and that's it for me. I have a niece who is smart, beautiful and polite. And in a group of teenagers, she shines because she knows how to behave in public. I do wonder about the others.
Hi Simone,
I have a question. Do the WTI count for the Q and A contest?
Thank You,
Susan
Took a while to write a hub for this question. Eventually I came up with How to Use Modern Etiquette Incorrectly. It is all about keeping those office colleagues in line!

If you do visit, I apologise in advance for the videos I've not acted in a long time!
Oh, this is absolutely fantastic!! Love the videos and your creative solutions. Hehee, you've reminded me how fun etiquette discussions can be!
Almost late again this week, but I am glad I managed to write one about "The Etiquette of Online Writing or Netiquette for Writers".
http://donnaisabella.hubpages.com/hub/O … ful-Writer
You've put together a thorough and lovely guide, donnaisabella
Wow! I still get to post my link on the email etiquette hub I wrote. I usually finish late the hubs I write for WTI.

By the way, can hubs answering the weekly topic inspiration join the Know It All contest?
