Can you hear your own heartbeat?
If I sit still and am in a quiet place and I listen for it, I can hear/feel the beating of my own heart. Can you?
Yes, I can hear and feel my own heartbeat at times also. This hold true for many people I believe. It is easier to hear your heart beating with hand placed below your head and beneath your ear, when lying down on a pillow.
JL
Of course,I can also feel when it's beating alittle too fast. I've learned to breathe to slow it down, you can actually hear and feel it. It's very calming.
yes .....i can hear my heart beat if i alone and thinking of my loved one !!!
Of course you can hear your own heartbeat.
Hearing Your Own Heart Beat
Some doctors think its related to the arteries or sinus or allergies or head injury or just a fluke; ... 3 percent of the world has this weird problem and most causes are unknown.
Have read where people just recently just started having it. Have heard where people had it all their lives. Some very old. Older people have the largest compliant of this. Due probably to hardening of the arteries.
Two doctors one a gp and the other a ent. ran test ,rather expensive test, their conclusion stress although some are not under stress. The only stress was from the anxiety the noise it caused. They did say however that a benign murmur but say there was no concern.
Have read about thousands and thousands of people complaining about this and more is known about it than was a few years ago. But still people are in the dark as to what causes this and some have even had surgery but still had the sound.
The causes included was weight loss, ear wax, tube closings, artery damage, arteries mangled ,arteries constricted, murmur , etc.. weird but true!
To put it simply I really don't think you have much to worry about. Some have had it more than a year and haven't died from it. A Doctor that had it since he was born and is retired and says that we will never find our answer in a "white coat" he said just try to ignore it, but yet he finds it soothing saying it reminds him he is alive. The best to you and try not to worry.
But see your Doctor gp and let him know about your concerns...

I don't hear my own heartbeat, but I can hear my partners. It beats really loudly and is like a drum. He was concerned and went to the doctor to get checked over. He was told it was arrythmia or something, but nothing to worry about.
Yes. But not always as it is in many different situations when I can hear my own heartbeat. It tends to be loud and pounding very fast.
I remembered those days with my mother when I put my ear on her chest and listening to her heartbeat.
I hear my own heartbeat almost all the time, especially when I try to sleep and my head is on my pillow. It can be annoying at times but I guess it is good that I hear it. If I wouldn't hear it, I would think I died. lol
I suffer from tenitis, (ringing in the ears) and I am told there is no cure for it except watching certain things that I eat, but anyway, I have a different theory on that. Since I always hear my heart beat, I believe the ringing in my ears could be the sound of the blood flowing through my veins and arteries. I have no medical proof to back that up, it is just my theory from knowing my own body.
