Milk is very good for the health. If you drink the skimmed kind (with the least amount of fat), you are still getting the essential vitamins and minerals, but your are not getting the added fat.
Cow's milk isn't great for a human digestive system, but the calcium is essential. Skimmed milk is better than full fat for obvious reasons. Try soya milk though as a healthier alternative, especially is you are lactose intolerant.
Emma Harvey is right..cow's milk isn't good for our system..besides soya, try goat's milk..it's probably the next best alternative to human milk
Milk is actually a very unhealthy food. Besides being high in fat (2% milk is actually 35% fat when you look by calorie intake) it has ingredients and byproducts that cause all sorts of skin and digestive problems. The high levels of casein can cause thyroid problems. Because of the type of calcium, it actually doesn't provide us with any calcium at all, it depletes it. You get calcium from green vegetables like broccoli. The places that drink the most milk, like North America for example have the highest levels of bone disease like osteoporosis and arthritis.
Don't drink milk!
The countries that have higher dairy consumption, also have higher rates of osteoporosis. A lot of the calcium from milk is not digested properly after the age of 30. Fruits, and vegtables have better absorbed calcium. IF you lift weights, and want extra protein though, Drinking milk can help, as milk does contain protein, and fats for energy.
Milk is good. I am not quite sure how to summarize some of the previous comments but here are some thoughts:
Yes, most (look up lactose persistence) humans are lactose intolerant. The degree to which we lack the enzymes to break down lactose differs in various geographic regions of the world. Side effects? Most will only experience very minor side effects such as bloating and gas.
Can't absorb the calcium from milk? False! All one needs to absorb calcium is Vitamin D. Fortunately all milk (at least in the United States) is fortified with Vitamin D AND you can synthesize daily recommended amounts within 5 minutes of your skin being exposed to the sun.
As for the fat, of course Skim milk is the better choice.
Best advice to you: EVERYTHING, whether its the bost food or worst, should be consumed in moderation. If you were (as an extreme example) to drink a gallon of skim milk a day you would most likely be getting too much salt and protein (too much protein or too much in one sitting doesn't make your kidneys happy)
Lastly: It's delicious, so drink on!

After the holidays I am going to go Gluten Free and Dairy Free to find out which I'm allergic to, and perhaps move on from there. I have done the Gluten free thing, which is not terribly difficult for me. I have mostly gone dairy free, but I'm not strict on it, and am rather partial to cheese,...
