At first it is prayer in the morning to Guardian Angel or God to keep my way away from any dangerous situation. If you smile and think that it is not a serious way for self defend, you do a mistake. Any prayer contains the transcendental information that sends vibration in the magnetic field around our planet.
You can do an interesting experiment. Just write on paper your wish for today, for example that you wish to meet seven people who will ask you the right way or what is the time. You will meet them, even usually nobody asks you those things.
I know that Tony the writer loves any self defend in a pub. If somebody really loves to spend a lot of free time in the pub, again, just ask the Guardian Angel to keep you in safe distance from this pub where will be shooting or fighting with knives. You will be wondered that in this horrible night you was asked by a friend to go out in another pub or there will  be traffic jam.
I long time worked as a carer for old people in their houses. It means, from early morning to late night walking around on streets. I always kept in my mind some prayers and I am absolutely sure that they kept me safe, even sometimes I was very close to dangerous situations among some groups of fighters.
But remember, never look in eyes to unknown strangers, don't provoke them. Just keep in mind your prayer and go the same speed, never faster.
But if anything couldn't help and you are under the pressure to fight there is just one way- hit first, hit hard, keep hitting...
