About who we are as people... our relationship colors.

'Fern - Enduring Colors of Life' by Pearldiver, is a short, but powerful poem about the many things that we take for granted in our modern lives and relationships, without taking time to notice their real beauty and relevance to our world, or to nature.

Sadly and in many respects, we even treat other people this way, without realizing the depth and importance of all the things that they may well consider to be the very essence of their survival.

'Fern' is about caring and all it takes to do so, irrespective of our own needs to be cared for. 'Fern' is about the different colors that we carry in the different moods of our relationships and is about being able to endure any hardship that may well be imposed, or exist within a chosen environment, or color, including the color of love! Please enjoy the message within this illustrated poem of hope... It may have been written for you and all the things that you are. If you do enjoy this piece, then please take the time to vote and leave a positive comment below.... Cheers... take care.

Enduring Colors of Life.

---------------- 'Fern' ----------------

Fern, no sunlight will warmly touch your face today

Yet you show your indifference, with fronds of muted blue

Perhaps your colors represent the past moods of all forests lost

Felled to the arrogance of a thousand axes, but look, you survived this saddest cost

Defiance reflected in mauve, farewells to friends in red tears

Let your moods be known to all those who haven’t yet seen

And Fern, bring back the happiness that we once shared in green

While you subtly color this bland world, with a forest’s purity on display

I had often wondered why you reached out with arms unfurled, to that hope beyond the grey

To where only wild ferns grow freely in the shade, but it's there, that your love stays

and will endure... Always!

The True Significance of This Poem.

This poem was actually written as an exercise to help me understand, if possible, what it must be like to be blind and not have the ability to 'see' firsthand, the different colors of life, but to see by only relying on the other senses. I picked a simple subject that has endured thousands of years, being the fern and considered that my task, as a blind poet, was to describe to the world, what I 'saw' within a humble fern, in words that illuminated that world. In that way, I could try as a writer, to appreciate the value of the senses that I am blessed with. What was learned was how incredibly 'sighted' the blind really are and even though as a sighted person, I have seen a million ferns; I had never previously seen the colors of their moods. Perhaps, it is those who take their senses for granted and don't appreciate how others cope without them, that are the ones who really are blind! Hope you enjoyed what was seen from a fern's perspective.

Life is always about how it is viewed... See yours positively.
