Do you think you have to be a good writer to write?

I believe that you don't have to be a good writer to write! It it a craft that is shaped over time!

Not all the time, ,but I do believe you must have the ability to watch and learn.  It is very important to keep your original ideas, ( I am the world's worst in not doing this) you can edit and re-edit your work until you are happy.

No, you don't have to be a good writer to write. I believe that in order to be a writer it requires that you have something of value to share, and possess enough communication skills to make it understandable to others. I don't think anyone is just a writer out of the gate, it takes time to hone your skills and polish your style, and these are of secondary importance to the message you have to share.

Personally, I do not. I think you have to have a real interest in writing, in wanting to express feelings, emotions, facts, figures, etc. If that desire is not present, the you will not have the drive to stay with it. All writers get better with time and experience if they practice the craft and to some extent it gets to be a bit less of a struggle. Practice pays off here just like anywhere but you really get better when you stretch beyond the normal comfort zone and try new stuff. Those who give up from the git-go because they classify themselves as "not a good writer" are really doing themselves a dis-service. No one who became a good guitar player or piano player knew how to play when they started...they had to learn and practice. Good can be as much a function of awareness and discipline as it is just natural in-grained talent.  WB

If you don't write, you will never be a good writer. If you keep practising, you are likely to become a good writer.

In order to be a writer, you need a very special combination of enthusiasm and blindness to your own ability. Books that have sold millions of copies in the past few years have been absolute crap, but the writer didn't know that, and apparently neither did the agent, publisher, or fanbase. So by all means, write anything you like as long as you maintain the belief that it's worth publishing: it seems quality is a thing of the past these days.
