   Do people still buy books any more?
   
   With many bookstores going out of business, do you still buy books anymore?   If so, do you buy the traditional books, audio-books, or eBooks?

   I am one of those old-fashioned people who likes the smell of the pages, the feel of the cover and writing in the margins. I know a lot of people who prefer e-readers, but I just don't like the thought of staring at a screen for that long.

   I have never bought an audio-book or an e-book.......yet!. I know the time is coming but I still prefer traditional books... of which I bought two yesterday and one today.

   I love books and magazines, and I love shopping for them.  Books and magazines are a part of my weekend getaways and vacations.  I have no desire to buy a Kindle or a Nook.  I like the feel of books and turning pages.  I am open to change, but not right now.

   I have a Kindle but I still buy "real" books. I prefer what is in a book to the format of a book. Reading my Kindle is exactly like reading a real book page so I can read on it for hours. I like the convenience of ebooks.

   I prefer the feel and weight of paper. I have never wanted to have an audio book and buying the electronic version of a book just does not appeal to me. Glossy pages of a magazine can't be replaced and you can't beat the smell of yellow highlighter when underlining words and passages. Cuddle up by the fire with a good e-book? I'm devastated every time a bookstore closes.

   How could one not enjoy a good book?  I must say there is nothing like curling up with one for the afternoon.  I'm like a kid in a candy store when I'm shopping for books and would miss that if it was no longer available.

   Honestly, I can't focus much when reading an e-book. Meanwhile, I enjoy listening to audio books because I don't have to do much of the work. However, nothing beats reading a good paperback or hardbound book. Tangible book = EUPHORIA.

    We have slowly, slowly been purchasing books at the used bookstore.  It's our intention here to get into the electronic devices as well ... I have a few good leads from, lol, from a Hub.

    I do. There are those of us who still believe in the power of the paperback. The eBook is fine when I am on the move, but when I want to relax with a good book I'd go for the paperback any day. Also when dealing with serious matter, the paperback gives you the advantage of making notes alongside the material that you are reading as you go along.

    I have a nook. I like ebooks because they are cheaper and greener because they cut out the production and transportation aspect of books. If I do buy a book its from a local used book store.  I like to support local businesses and buying a used book helps to recycle.  Plus the used book store I go to gives store credit for turning in books so I can get money for getting rid of clutter.

    I still buy books for myself as I prefer a physical book. My daughter got a Kindle from my parents for her Christmas and she buys a lot of E-books. I must admit that I love nothing better than reading a book at bedtime. Sadly, there are a lot of book shops in the UK going out of business too. I think it will eventually be the E-books that take over.

    I still buy books - real paper books - as I find them more relaxing and pleasing than the electronic ones. Having said that I do enjoy audio books and often listen to them while doing the housework or on the computer. I don't have a kindle as yet, and apart from the cheap price of e-books, I'm not that tempted at present.

    I frequent used bookstores mostly, and do buy some eBooks. However, I also use the library a lot. I love books, but they can be a pretty expensive habit.

    Absolutely.  I have selves filled with books.  I have had to downsized a few times because the books had overtaken everything.  I received a Kindle as a gift and saw it as an opportunity to be able to carry with me a great many more books than if I was boarding a plane with one or two, etc.  There was also a time when I traveled by automobile quite a lot....an average trip would be anywere from 4 hours to 7 or 8 hours.... audio books were very handy.   
    
    So, for me.....I like them all because they fit into different areas of my life quite nicely.

    I love rhe smell and feel of a book! I am addicted. I always have two or three going. And buy them used on amazon. I have two on order now- a penny each and like new!!! Yep, I still buy books.

    My hubby surprised me with a Kindle Fire recently and I find I enjoy some aspects of it like returning to the same page I was on or checking out library books virtually without the expense or bother of going there in person. However, I'm still requesting actual books rather than digital copies from the publishers for whom I review as I like to add the books to my library. So, my e-reader is for my "disposable, one time reading" and my hard copies are those I know I'll read and use time and time again.

    I love books. I have a huge collection and when I like a book that someone borrows me, I'll buy one for myself so I can re-read it if I feel like it. My father was an avid reader, and I have some of the world's most famous novels at home. so I keep adding to my father's collection!

    I  like to buy traditional books. I believe that the cost of the e-readers along with the technology advancements every few years is the biggest reason not to purchase one. Also I can sneak a book in my pocket at work as opposed to a large e-reader or headphones for audio books.

    Yes.  I have seen people reading traditional books outside at relaxing places like the beach and I bought a few traditional books.  Someone I know reads a lot of paper books but he gets them from the library.  When buying a book I prefer a traditional book if it is for enjoyment.  I have used audio-books and eBooks for information.
    
    One of the reasons I like traditional books is that I already spend a lot of time reading computer screens.

    Yes, because it is harder to get distracted by the internet when sitting alone with a book.
