Why is it okay for the US to harbor weapons of mass destruction, but not okay for any other country?
We all know that the US is in possession of weapons of mass destruction. Therefore, why is this okay for the US, but not tolerated (or condoned) for any other country in the world? Shouldn't other countries be able to protect themselves on this level as well?
It is of course not in the best of interests for the whole world that any country should harbour nuclear weapons but the fact that the USA does have them and could use them is the greatest deterrent against any other country using them. It is known as the MAD equation/theory that is Mutually Assured Destruction. America is not the only country to hold nukes by the way there are many others.
...didn't say the US was the only country who has wmds. I did say, however, that it is "not tolerated (or condoned) for any other country in the world". For example, some people don't believe that Russia or Germany or any Middle Eastern country should also be harboring wmds. Then again, don't these other countries have a right to protect themselves (from the US even) just as much?
You are misinformed ! Other countries have them.USSR or Russia and Israel,China as well.
Its not OK for anyone ... including the USA, to make, or retain these Senseless Instruments of Mass Destruction ...
Primarily the Nuclear Weapons, were made and retained, as Threats ... supposed to keep the Enemy at bay from ambitious undertakings ... till dropped when some Idiots so decided.
Alarmingly, today, these Terrible Instruments of Destruction ... are being given Fancy names, by adversaries ... such as Russia's Nuclear Arsenal ... The Free World's [US']ICBMs, or Pakistan's Islamic Bomb, and Israel's Doomsday Bomb, but most interestingly ... India's Peaceful Nukes !
They call them by these names ... as if these Insane Devices had a Mind and Conscience of their own ... or Followed, Philosophies, Moralities, or Religions and Ideologies ... or were Democrats, Socialists or Muslims ... !
The Nukes are remnants of an Age of Ignorance ... 20th Century ... People of the world, must now unite to discard these Politicians Used or Deployed Weapons of Human Destruction ... together with their Manufacturers, and insane Politicians.
I feel it's wrong for anyone to harbor WMD, though sadly our leaders seem to feel differently about it... The same goes for the UK, China, Russia and Japan.
There are more than 40 countries with Nukes, this does not count other WMD. Your premise is inaccurate.
But, let's put it into a situation that you can understand. The crazy guy that is always muttering to himself that you pass by while walking down the street, the one the barks at people when they become near. Well, let's give him a loaded weapon. Yes, let's give him a vest jacket bomb with a button detonator. Now, how do you feel conducting business? Won't you and every sane person try to stay away from him by at least 100 yards?
Countries can't just move away from contingent countries with madmen at the helm.
If you don't like the example of the madman, then your ex's lover, or an ex lover, or someone that simply has sworn to kill you because you are a jew or black or Christian or whatever item on his menu of hate.
Seems pretty clear to me.
Nukes are not the only WMD's and MAD doesn't work against enemies without a country.
Landmines that kill innocents long after the war leading to their original placement is over - are considered WMD's.
more info @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottawa_Treaty on the 'International Campaign to Ban Landmines'
Although US law has prohibited all antipersonnel mine exports since 1992 until 2014, it's not one of the blue countries signed up.
Is your name Miss Info or Miss Informed? The reason the United States is, can and will be in possession of WMDs is because it is and always has been the most responsible nation in the history of the world. Has the US ever made a mistake. Yes. And when they have, the United States has gone to great extent to make up for an error.
To compare the US to, for example, Iran for WMDs is ludicrous. They don't want WMDs for protection - their stated goal is to wipe Israel off the map. Now that is a good reason to keep them from getting them. Like children, some countries haven't grown up. Like some Hubbers, they haven't a clue.
There is absolutely not one single moral, political, ethical, or scientific justification for this. The United States is a morally repugnant money whore that murders innocents all over the globe all of the time. As a nation, the United States harbors some of the most disgustin values ever imposed upon the rest of the world - and it's mass media ( the unofficial fourth arm of the U.S. Government) then sells these economic rapes, and physical murders as virtue and righteousness.
But things could be worse.
Here's a fact for you - and it is a fact. The United States government spends untold millions spraying Columbia's cocaine field. . . .NOT because cocaine is dangerous, but because the United States Government doesn't make money selling cocaine.
MORE COLUMBIAN PEOPLE die every single year from UNITED STATES TOBACCO than do Americans die from Columbian cocaine.
So I ask you, who should be imposing this chemical warfare? We, on the Columbians? Or should the Columbians be spraying U.S. Tobacco with chemical warfare?
this is a good question. The U.S. is the only country to use weapons like these against their enemies but they still seem to think that other countries don't have a right to possess them which i find absurd. If the U.S. was attacked, i guarantee they would use them in a heartbeat . it bothers me because though i love the U.S., they have become extremely paranoid in the last 15 years and i doubt it would take much for them to nuke another country.
Mr Shaw...
Really?? A morally repugnant money whore?
We give more as a nation for the good of other nations than all other nations combined.
Disgusting values??
Life, Liberty, Pursuit of Happiness... Yuck!
How do you live in this mess Mr. Shaw? Is there no other country that you would rather live in????
Other countries do have weapons of mass destruction. It just isn't overly publicized.
Well, I think it boils down to one simple statement: might makes right.
The U.S.A. is a country founded by thieves, Murders, liars, and Hypocrytes.....Everything you ever learned about honor and equality, trash it!!!! I have never witnessed equality. Land of the free, only if you can afford to buy it, not all that free is it? Under God, Who's God? Under Capitolizm, Society is owned by Capitolizm. (Cocaine is just Awful, Have you ever seen the affects Crack has on the humans mental and physical health? Dood don't try to justify wrong with wrong, makes you sound stupid. The reason columbia does not spray our Tobacco Fields is because America being a super power will wipe columbia off the map. Oh Cocaine makes Our Government more money than you think through court fee's, Fines, money siezed, propertys siezed, assetts siezed, what do you think happens with everything that is siezed by the government? After Conviction the Government has a big auction and sells it all for dirt cheep, profiting 100 percent. Study a little before your mouth farts shxt out.
