Jack Burton on HubPages

Jack Burton is a thirty-plus-year veteran in Christian communications, having started his career as a volunteer announcer with Far East Broadcasting Company in Okinawa, Japan in 1975. Jack was in the Navy during the time and, after being transferred to San Diego, he continued to volunteer with various broadcasting ministries until he entered John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas in 1978.

While at JBU, he was a staff announcer at KUOA-AM and KMCK-FM. Graduating in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcasting (Magna Cum Laude), he continued his education at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, while also working full-time as a television producer/director in the St. Louis area. Upon completion of his Master’s degree in Mass Communications in 1982, he started at WCBW-FM in St. Louis in the sales department and worked his way up to Sales Manager.

Leaving St. Louis in 1984, Jack moved to Dallas, Texas, where he was Director of Broadcasting for the William Bray Agency, working with ministries such as Citihope, in New York and Gospel for Asia, in Dallas.

In November of 1984, Jack moved back into Christian radio as General Manager of KDVE-AM in Beaumont, Texas, where he pioneered one of the nations first praise and worship radio formats. He followed this up as General Manager of Christian radio stations in Little Rock, Indianapolis, and Chicago.

1n 1990, Jack opened his own agency, Full Moon Media Concepts, where he worked with a variety of ministry and secular accounts to provide them with high quality media expertise. He also published a monthly coupon discount magazine allowing local businesses to reach over 60,000 households with their advertising. During this time he also directed the national marketing efforts for a major educational resource company.

Jack was also the spokesman for several ministries, including the pro-life outreach Project One Third and the Christian Home Educated Scholarship Society. During this time he was featured extensively by Christian and secular media around the nation, including the Truths that Transforms program with Dr. D. James Kennedy and Focus on the Family Daily News.

In March of 1995, Jack was asked to become director of development for several inter-faith non profit organizations where he directed a fundraising effort that reached into over 80 countries.

Presently, he is a freelance writer with a number of clients around the world. He is living in Indiana with his wife, Joan, and their three children.
