When is the best time to identify someone as your boyfriend or girlfriend?
I'm having trouble figuring it out really. I don't know when the right time is to have the discussion with the guy I've been dating. When is the right time to establish the "boyfriend" title?
I personally believe (titles) come after a couple has decided to be “exclusive”. If there has been a discussion where both people have articulated they have no interest in dating other people then that is the day you may begin introducing each other with “titles”. You have to have (the talk) prior to any announcement.
You begin the discussion by telling your mate that you are not interesting in dating anyone other then them. (Be quiet for a moment). If they don't state the same thing (right away) then you know they are not in the same emotional place as you are. Any hesistation no matter what they say after it is a clear sign they are not "all in". Most couples use titles based upon how much time they have spent together, frequency of being in contact, and the type of discussions they have had. On average this occurs within 12 weeks or 3 months if they are together just about every weekend. Remember communication beats assumption! You have to (know) if the other person wants to be (exclusive). You can't base it entirely upon time spent together.
We have definitely decided to date exclusively. Though the title has not been put out there quite yet, though I feel it's about that time. We've been dating about a month now. Is that too soon?
You said, "We have definitely decided to date exclusively" then I would say you are a couple! Feelings are more important than time. Don't worry about what others think. Only YOU can know what is right for you. Best of luck!
That's an awesome way of thinking of it. Thanks
When both are ready for a commitment and are ready to be monogomous. I haven't ever been in the situation that I had to bring it up. I think its a naturally gradual process and normally for me they slip and introduce me as their girlfriend or they get jealous at some attention I get and are worried that I will date them and know they can't say anything so make things offical to make sure I don't date someone else. I think that if your relationship is there to that point than communicating your desire to be a couple should be natural and not an anxious experience and if you don't know how to talk about it with them yet maybe it isn't time.

usually, we face this dilemma. In the repationship, boyfriend doesn't work , so his girlfriend shoud pay all the time they go out and eat somewhere. Or, boyfriend earns enough money , so his girlfriend completely doesn't care how much he spends and saves each month, and she doesn't even feel bad...

How to tell your parents you're dating a much older woman or man? When there's a HUGE age gap but it's time to introduce your new boyfriend or girlfriend to your parents. I think you should probably warn them beforehand? Any ideas about this topic?
