Are there limits to trust?
This question can be interpreted under many contexts. All of them, most likely, surround the concept of love (whether it be love in God, gods, lovers, family, friends, even science) and your belief in them. When do you draw the line and say, "Hey! I'm too frightened to go on. I need proof. I don't trust it anymore?" You can apply this to theories, if you'd like. I'm wondering what your Scientific Method I, in a way. Are you the type of person that will always trust in what you believe in—no matter how far-fetched... or do you need more assurance before investing in a person or idea?
Everyone has limits. We all set our own limits in everything. Whether they be of trust, love, or even fear. I can sit here and say I trust someone 100%, but that would be a lie. I am a work in progress but as much as I love God, sometimes I don't trust Him as I should. I lost trust in my fiance from a few lies, not major ones, but lies none the less.
Trust is not something people simply give to one another...
Trust is something you earn and continue to earn.
If you trust in your spouse, right now, at this moment, whose to say something doesn't happen tomorrow that indirectly has you questioning their honesty?
Of course there are. In every context there are limits to trust. I am willing to go along with an idea to test it, even if I don't trust it. I rely on people who are experts in which ever field. But to go into more detail I would have to say ask in the forums.
Having being burnt by friendship many times and even recently, because I was too trusting, I guess I have my limits but forgot to set them too often.
When it comes to belief, I am very 'gullible' so to speak, but I always keep a part of doubt and it is enough. I do not need to have all the answers. Life would be too boring otherwise.
Trust with a sufficient dash of doubt is what I am working on with people, but have totaly embraced when it comes to belief and philosophy.
So to answer your question, I guess there are always limits to trust, depending on the person...
You cant believe everything you hear!! People have different interpretations about certain events or issues but humans have individual minds for a reason!! I prefer to think outside the box..
Yes there are limits. The limits being losing all trust, and having no trust at all. As to gaining trust, that is indefinite.
I think it is a personal level of faith in that person and having a gut feeling.

Tell me why you don't believe in God or the devil? What is your logic behind your belief that people of faith or those who believe in good/evil forces believe in the absurd? I am interested in the system of logic that you are using and would like to compare it to the most highly respected...

Belief is to believe in something. It can be true or false. But we believe, out of trust, faith and sometimes because the world believes in it.Beliefs are the old thoughts, that sometimes you hang on in your life for generations. You have the power to make your own beliefs. There are two types of...

Can you really have a relationship with someone you don't trust. You can love them and want your relationship to work but if you don't trust them can it? Do you give it time and hope for the best?

Christians, could you ever love or even like an atheist?I'm an atheist and at least 90% of the people I love are Christians. I only have a problem with Christians who use religion as a weapon to harm or control others. Obviously, I know Christians can love atheists because, well, all those people I...

Faith and trust in God are like the two elements of water - hydrogen and oxygen - you can't have water without both of them together. You can't be a Christian without having faith and trust together. Many people say they have faith in God, but then when life gets tough they lose...

If you do all that you can for your wife or husband and it isn't good enough, then what do you do?In the same vein as the Japanese grandmother, allow me to ask, "if you do all that you can to please your wife or husband, and that isn't good enough, then what?"
