Where does it say in the Bible we will see our loved ones in Heaven?

Many who have lost loved ones talk about seeing them in Heaven some day.  Although I agree, I am wondering if it is specifically stated in God's Word.

I've also read numerous afterlife accounts where people say they die, then come back to life - and share an experience in Heaven where they saw their loved ones.

II Corinthians 5:8  To be absent from the body is present with the Lord.
Paul is talking to Christians. Perhaps we should consider the overall interpretation of the Bible. That is usually what I try to do.

I neither deny or claim "near death" experiences to be true or not true, but the evidence points to the positive since so many have experienced it.  However, I feel that since angels can take on different forms, this could explain some of these situations.  ??

Thank you so much...I have read that verse SO many times, and it makes so much better sense now!  I also agree angels can take on different forms.  God bless you. I appreciate your feedback.  Sparklea smile

that verse says nothing about recognizing anyone in eternity.   it is talking about what happens to one's siprit at death, not after the judgement

I think of one scripture that proves it >1 cor 13:12  For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
This proves we will recognize people.
I do not think we will be loving mothers, fathers, brothers, husbands anymore than anyone else in heaven and there will be no dependencies for God will meet all our needs and have us looking only to Him. I think our perspective will change, and our love will increase through understanding it all.

Thank you so much Jackie for clarifying the above verse.  I agree all our needs will be met and we will be looking only to Him.  I've read multiple stories of people who have died, gone to heaven and returned.  Wonderful!
      God bless, Sparklea smile

I don't know where Bible gives such a vivid explanation, but assuming that there is some evidence, there are still some hitches. One, there is no assurance that I will end up in heaven. Two, there is no assurance that my dear dead relatives are also in heaven! Maybe we will be meeting in hell! Who knows?!

But faith in Christ IS assurance of heaven.  Jesus is the great HOPE for a reason.  Those who confess they were born a sinner and believe Christ died on the cross for those sins, that He arose again, that is the ticket to heaven.

      BG1960,
Okay. I confess I am a born sinner and Christ died on the cross for my sins. I am a free bird now. Let me commit more sins in my remaining life, enjoy the life fullest this way and go straight to the heaven! Thanks for the free ticket!

CV :  You must do your best to live it.  You become a new person.  It's not like that.

      BG1960,
That's precisely what I wanted to draw from you. A person repenting for his sins, never repeating his sins, leading a purer life with awareness and surrender to God has every potential to end up in Heaven. And he need not be a christian.

CV I think what Buffalo Gal is trying to say is that when you DO accept Christ, HE CHANGES YOUR HEART.  You will not desire to commit more sins.  When you do, you will be sorrowful and immediately receive God's forgiveness.  Blessings, Sparklea smile

      Sparklea,
The point is a Buddhist's faith in Buddha would give the same effect; A Muslim's faith in Allah too would save him. It is quite immaterial whether Christ died on the cross or not!
