What we are? Are we an image of a god or are we an ape from Africa?
200 years afer Charles Darwin birth, the DNA technology deternined who his ancient ancestors were. His great-great-grandson took a cheek swab test analysing his Y chromosome, with test revealing that he and therefore his paterrnal great-great-granfather are from the Haplogroup RIB, one of the most common European male lineages who left Africa about 45,000 years ago. Does it mean that Darwin was right after all with his assertions that Afreica was 'the cradle of humankind.' Where does it leave God as our creator?
Is this a typical religious "either-or" question allowing for only two alternative answers, both FALSE? I think so. Interesting that the question uses a lower case "a god" and an initial caps "God'.
The short answer to "Where does it leave God as our creator" is: NOWHERE. No "God".
There are two theories that make more sense than a "God". One is conventional, and the other is rather more far-fetched than the "God" idea, but still makes more sense.
The more conventional one is that we are a separate species, branched off from apes and monkeys hundreds of thousands to millions of years ago.
The far-fetched one is that we are genetically engineered by aliens, about 400,000 years ago. We are a hybrid of hominid and alien genes, which could explain some anomalies in our chromosomal makeup compared to apes. Those aliens that created our race are the gods (lower case) mentioned in texts much older than the Jewish Old Testament, which made their way, rather garbled, into the Old Testament.
See the brief mention about the annunaki by Sitchin on my profile page:

That is just a start; there is much more information out there about the "gods" (not "God"), and our history absent religious dogma.
Neither of those statements is accurate.
Humans are most closely related to chimpanzees. We share an extinct common ancestor.
Dear 'Dog on a mission', I agree with you that there is a possibility and scientific evidence that 'chimpanzee' are our closest relations, but there is also evidence that we share the most DNA with pigs, what about that, is there a possibility of some 'pig' ancestry as well?
However there is a strong evidence that the first humans have started in Africa and slowly moved up gradually settling all the continents.
If you say it is not accurate, what you base your argument on?
Thank you for coming in to discuss this topic, discussion is always good. All the best from Beata

I feel that believing in one religion is not practical. Likewise, there is no way of knowing if there is one God, or any God for that matter. I'm not saying there's not either, though I do trust science it only goes so far... Some things will always be left unexplained. The bottom line is that with...

Where does it say in the Bible we will see our loved ones in Heaven? Many who have lost loved ones talk about seeing them in Heaven some day. Although I agree, I am wondering if it is specifically stated in God's Word. I've also read numerous afterlife accounts where people say they die,...
