some people say that we are all selfish so I want to know if it is true.
I could agree that all humans are selfish. But how selfish?
You are either very selfish or you are not.
I am selfish as I wanted to stay home and not go to the event that I am supposed to go to. Or I'm selfish if I eat way more than I need to.
Others take is as far as not sharing, etc. I figure it is my life and I only have one of them, so its okay to do what I want, as long as it causes harm to no one.
I think that viewing from a biblical standpoint, I would say yes. Our "sin" nature is driven with the need to "feed" and satisfy itself first above other things. It is primal, like the basic survival instincts: food, water, etc.
This also goes back to the curse of "original sin" which was based in "self-love", or in placing the wants and needs of the self above that of God, and all others.
This is an ongoing struggle for mankind to put aside these traits and tendancies otherwise, because of the curse and the corruption that we live under. It is not just a behavioral pattern that can simply be learned and then adhered to. It is much more complex than that.
That is why having a relationship with God as a family is important. We are forgiven for our sin through God's grace and by the stength of His Spirit we can combat these tendancies. Otherwise without him, we are too weak. Many people over the centuries have tried to maintain a solid moral philosophy and excell at goodness without God, but will always "stumble" somehwere along that path without His support.
we all have it in us to be selfish but that dosent mean everyone acts on it i do think however we are all selfish at one point in time dosent make us bad its in our nature to do wrong sometimes we just cant help it we just have to humble ourselves so that we may learn and grow from theese defects of charictor lets face it we all have some
I don't believe everyone is selfish.
Jesus, Buddha, Gandhi, and many others were not selfish.
The remains of many heros in unmarked graves shows that many were not selfish.
They were all humans. Some were gays, atheist, agnostics, Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Jews and Buddhists.
Religious institutions love to portray all humans as selfish. This is because they love to sell their salvation plan to the masses.
Have you ever seen a child giving up his or her food to some else?
We are not born to be selfish. Our imperfect social conditions cause some of us to be selfish
Yes, there are selfish humans too.

Let us ask

I asked the
question, “is it true that all human is selfish?” and I got an exciting
cornucopia of answers which varied just as those that said it. The answers were
given in an explanation which either answered yes or... read more

Do you think pursuing self-fulfillment is selfish?I know sometimes pursuing our self-actualization means telling others "no", and they are likely to think we are being selfish. But is it more selfish to NOT try to be your best self and so maybe not create a great work or art, a new...

Why is selflessness touted as a virtue when in fact, selflessness is considered to be an aberration? Healthy people are selfish. Being selfish is essential to mental well-being. People who are selfless are oftentimes taken advantage of by others who view them as easy marks,...
