   Would you ever consider a life of  full time traveling, living in a large motor home/travel trailer?
   
   Here is the scenario.  I will soon have all the details worked out for a job that will take me to a different U.S. location every 13 weeks.  I plan on selling my home to my older son and living full time on the road.  I will still have a home base with my son whenever I want, but for all practical purposes, I will live on the road.  I know there are many who do this and they seem to love it.  I have traveled extensively before, so this will not be a totally new experience for me.  I like the idea of moving around and seeing a lot of the country.  Could you live like this or would it get old?

   I would love to just travel and do nothing else. Though I don't think I'd turn to the motor home just yet, mainly as flying is the only way I can get to all the places I want to go. I want to live on a river boat in the canals through Europe, I want to take a six month vow of silence and back pack through Asia. I want to camp on the beaches of South Africa and South America - I want to touch each continent.
   I have to say kudos to you. I wish I could do that, just on a larger scale.

   My wife and I plan to do just that when we retire. We will have a house, but we plan to spend extended periods driving around Europe. I think that provided the space is large enough to prevent "cabin fever" and you have everything you need with you, I see no reaon why it would "get old".

   I love to travel and we just recently purchased an Rv, however, after being on the road for a few weeks at a time, I really look forward to being home and having a base and having a bigger area - like shower, bed, just room. I don't think I could do it continually - to me I would require a break from it.

      I feel the same to some extent Lynn.  Each of my job assignments will be 13 weeks long.  I can take a break between, so I could come home.  Also, if I have to go into very cold weather, I may not be able to use the RV, so I'd get a break there also.

   Getting 'old' is out of consideration .(!?) Under certain " favorable " circumstances ( similar to yours ) , yes to live full time on the road, to be profitable, prosperous , meating new people, sharing with the world experience of life 'fully satisfied' would be my choice to avoid to" get old" soon .

   If it was just me in the RV, I would have no problem. I don't need a lot of space. I have lived in an RV with my whole family of five though and it was really cramped. The newer RV's are much bigger and some of them are as big as apartments. There would be no cramping in them. I know people who live in their RV's and love it. I have several friends that are snowbirds and go south in the winter and north in the summer. They work as Forest Service hosts in the summer, living in their RV.

   We are doing that in Australia now ! Soon we are storing the 4WHDrive/caravan and heading overseas for a year !
   It is a great life and I highly reccomend it for sure -  Have hubs on some of our travels -Have a great time !

   There was a tv episode (I think on abc) the other day where it was a family of 12 who lived on the road full time. They lived in a motor home and loved to camp. The kids were "homeschooled" by the Mom. The dad worked on computers. They loved it. Since I saw this, I've been dreaming about doing the same.

      I cannot even imagine that scenario.  Twelve people living in a motor home?  I'm planning on getting a large motor home or travel trailer just form me alone.  But it is an appealing lifestyle to me and I look forward to getting started.

   Yes, doing the same thing but in a van.  Working as a Temp. and living in my van.  Call  myself a semi-retired, semi-driver.  Taking it slow and easy.  Good luck and have fun.

    I'm just about to start the same thing myself. My son is looking after the house while I travel Europe in a camperbus for the rest of the     year (as a troubadour, writer ,blogger...). I know I'm going to love it, and I can already imagine continuing indefinitely and taking the rest of the world in. But I'm curious about whether the reality will be as good as the dream.

    This is something that I dream of doing as well and would want to do this when I retire.  I wouldn't mind starting this sooner than later.  We even have an RV but it needs some work before we can put it back on the road

    I think I could live like that and enjoy it.  I would like seeing new places and having independence to travel a lot.  Every day is the same for me, same home, same office I work at, same cubicle I sit in.  A change like that would be exciting for me.  I hope you enjoy the change also.

    I would love to travel period. I was actually asked recently, I think after watching some program on television, if I would ever be willing to travel around the country (the US) in an RV. I definitely would enjoy it; I do think there is plenty to see in my own country without traveling abroad.
    
    However, I do love my home and my family, so I think I would personally be more prone to decide to stay living at home and traveling from time to time as opposed to going on the road and consistently traveling.
