It is kind of like a drug to them. There is something in it which chemically does something to them. I think it only affects cats but some cats are immune. Cats that like it are immune to it for a short period after a fix.

Not all cats like cat nip. At least 30% of cats do not even respond, The rest of them are programmed to respond to cat nip. Cat nip- also known as cats worm and cat mint is a plant ( Nepeta Cataria ) of the mint famly having leaves containing aromatic oils. Some cats go crazy, licking, biting, scratching, rolling, rubbing, jumping, some make funny meow sounds. For some cats when they smell it, it works like a Aphrodisiac.

Why do cats start getting bald spots?My cat is 16 but healthy yet all of a sudden she is getting two bald spots. I am pretty sure she has no fleas, I have never seen one on her and I don't think it is nerves as I have read can be a cause since all is as calm as ever, so what is left?

Why does my cat eat grass?My cat chews on grass when I take him outside (yes he walks on a leash!). I don't know if he swallows it or not. I usually pull him away before he has a chance to swallow it. Is he missing nutrients?
