Anyone know the symptoms of a dying guinea pig?
I picked it up from outside and it has gone all limp and flops on my arm. I thought he was dead but then he made a little squeak, but then as I got inside, I was sure he was dead, but then as I was about to put him down to rest, he starts slightly breathing and his lips haven't turned gray and he won't respond to touch in their eyes, but every so often he will respond. I have experienced one dying on me before but nothing like this. Any suggestions / comments?
The symptoms you describe ARE the symptoms of a dying Guinea-Pig. He needs to go to a vet asap. He could have been stung by a bee and be having an allergic reaction, depending on where you are he could have been bitten by a venomous snake or spider. If he is in shock as it sounds as if he is, he needs urgent fluids and treatment for potential anaphylactic shock.
Thank you very much, but I am sorry to say that he has now moved on. At least he didn't pass on alone and there was nothing more we could have done.
