What Animals have Changed your Life?

Tell me about any animal (a dog, cat, rat, bird, etc) that has entered your life at some stage and changed it for the better.

I had a pale blue and white budgie called 'Coco'.  He was hilarious, learnt lots of nursery rhymes and got them mixed up with everything, so we often heard 'Pop goes Coco'!  He used to play a game with a pencil when he was out in the room; he'd be on the window sill, pick up the pencil by a metal piece at its end and drop it on the floor, then squawk like mad until we picked it up and gave it back, then he'd repeat the process over and over again - just like a baby with a toy - hilarious!  He gave us years of pleasure and humour and was about 5 when he died; my Dad and I cried buckets!

I have 2 dogs, 4 cats and a dwarf rabbit. They all are dear to me, and they have all made me better in some way or another. However, there is one pet that I had that no other animal can compare to, and that is my beloved Buster.
Buster was a black and white fluffy tuxedo kitty. I rescued him from the APL when he was 7 years old. He had been abused and neglected and he was blind in 1 eye, they were thinking of putting him down.
I went to find a kitten, and I walked into the wrong room without knowing it. I was looking at the cats in all the different cages, and passed by Buster. I saw him for a second but decided I still wanted a kitten, so I moved on a few cages down where there were about 4 tiny kittys in a cage. I sat down on the floor and started playing with them through the bars.
Somebody came in and opened up Buster's cage, and he jumped down, ran straight to me, and plopped down in my lap! He looked up at me with his bright yellow eyes, and I fell in love.
I fought with the APL for 45 mins because they didn't want to adopt him out. Finally I got so frustrated that I slammed my money on the counter and demanded that someone go get him, or I would myself. I knew he was meant to be mine.
Finally an employee got him for me, and I took him home. He was attached to me and never left my side.
Eventually, when he was about 12 yrs old, his past and health issues caught up with him,and I had to put him down. I was heartbroken and cried every day for 3 months straight. He was like my kid. He taught me that love is unconditional. He never judged me or hurt me, he only gave me love.
Since then, I've adopted many more rescue animals, and I love them with all I have.
Pet's give us so much joy and love, they deserve the same in return.

I got a Miniature Schnauzer because my kids begged me to.  I didn't want a dog!  She has changed a lot of my bad habits.  I now take walks. I play in the yard with her.  She has taught me to have more patience cause I teach her tricks.  She has trained me in a lot of ways.  She's the Queen of our house, and she knows it. I've already written a Hub about "Baby".
