Dictionary Page Art
Combine Words & Crafting -- Make Art with Book Pages
I'm a freelance copy editor as well as a writer so you could say I'm a bit of a word nerd. I also love crafting.
What's better than making dictionary page art?
Vintage books, like dictionaries with small pictures or simply full of text, are ideal for making art. If you already have an old dictionary on hand, you're set! If not, I've added some links below so you can get one or two for yourself.
Here are just a few of the techniques for making art with dictionary pages:
~ print an image directly onto the book or dictionary page
~ cut out images from the book pages for use in scrapbooking, collage, or altered art projects

Vintage Book Page Art - Print Landscape or Vertical
Choose a book page you like and gently tear or cut it from the book. Decide if you want to use it landscape (like this book page art with the chicken on it) or vertical (like the page with the flower and girl swinging, shown in the introduction above).

If dismantling (tearing up) a book is just too much for you, here are some great options.
Print on Dictionary Pages or Old Book Pages
The simplest way to create dictionary page art
is take a page from a dictionary and
print an image directly on to the page.
If the page doesn't quite measure 8-1/2 X 11, fear not.
Carefully tape the corners of the book page
to a sheet of printer paper with removable tape
then print the image on the book page.
Dictionaries Suitable for Dictionary Page Art - Vintage Books Have Great Character
These two children's dictionaries are my go to books for many craft projects. The graphics are charming and simple, making them perfect for collage, altered art, making greeting cards, and of course, dictionary page art.

Find the perfect dictionary for your craft projects. I love having a couple of dictionaries on hand: one is black and white with small pictures interspersed with mostly text and the other is a set of old children's dictionaries with mostly pictures. They're both great and give me lots of options for crafting.
