   Who are your favorite photographers?
   
   I was recently inspired by Carleton Watkins, a great documentary photographer who was a big influencer in the establishment of Yosemite National Park. Who are your favorite photographers?

   Ansel Adams is an amazing black and white photographer. He focuses in large scale landscapes, but has truely paved the path for modern photography. Instead of simply going out places and taking pictures, he would visit an area and take measurements and watch the surroundings to gather the information needed for the perfect picture. In black and white photography you can tell a well structured picture by noticing if it has an equal balance of white, black, and grey. This is incredibly hard to do without knowing precisely how to adjust your aperture and shutter speed. If you have never seen any of his work, you should check it out.

   While not necessarily famous on a national scale, a local photographer that I think has the potential to make it big is Stephen Powell of Powell Creative Photography & Design.  He does some GREAT photojournalism stuff and is moving more toward commercial photography.

   Peter Lik while not a famous photographer from a long time ago, is by far one of my favorites. He has a way of caputring colors and landscapes that make them almost dreamlike. Simply amazing

   As usual I fall in love with the unknown talent.  My friend's little brother has been photographing for a few months now and is already way better than me creating a great image and manipulating it into an even better photograph using photoshop.  He does a photo of the day everyday and it has become an must go to obsession for me.

   I love most of the the depression era photographers especially Dorothea Lange and her "migrant mother" series of photographs. One photograph practically defined an era. Truly amazing. Ansel Adams of course is genious. My father James Lynch is also an amazing photographer.
