Is it true that a hat crocheted with single crochet is warmer than a double crocheted hat?
is it true that a hat crocheted with single crochet is warmer than a double crocheted hat? Someone told me this recently and I am not sure if its true.
Probably true. Single crochet has smaller holes in between stitches compared to double crochet. And when it stretches out on your head, the holes will be visible making single crocheted hats warmer.
well, sc (dc for Brits) is a firmer stitch than dc (tr for Brits), and as dezalyx says there are much smaller holes between stitches, and a dc hat will be stretchier than a dc one. Whether it will be warmer depends on these factors and other things such as your gauge and the yarn used.
