Which is the easier craft? Knitting or crochet?

I have recently learned to do both, but find crochet to be more forgiving and quicker. Because I haven't yet learned to read patterns correctly, I have done several projects "freestyle," so continue to favor crochet. What are your thoughts?

I agree I think crocheting is easier and as you say more forgiving.  I can knit but that whole dropping a stitch thing happens to me way too often.  Crocheting is more fun, in my mind anyway.

Personally I would think crochet. I learned to crochet in a week when I was eleven...but I have spent years trying to knit and still can't do it!

I think crocheting is easier.  You don't have to coordinate 2 needles, and in knitting, if you drop stitch, it's not as easy to recover it as it is in crocheting.  That being said, I have found that knitting seems to be more flexible and have more projects, because it has a tighter weave when done correctly.
